Fruity Book Slot Review: RTP 95.26% and Max Win 6,158x

What Fruity Book is

Fruity Book is a five-reel, three-row video slot from Onlyplay, released in November 2021. It pays on 10 paylines and is built on the book formula made famous by Book of Ra: one Book symbol that is both Wild and Scatter, free spins, and a special symbol that expands to cover whole reels. Onlyplay's official game page lists an RTP of 95.26%, a hit frequency of 31.01%, medium volatility and a maximum exposure of 6,158x the bet.

The setting swaps tombs for a seaside cafe. Waves roll in behind the reels, a pina colada sits on the edge of the screen and the symbols are ripe fruit and bright card ranks. The game is no longer listed in Onlyplay's current online catalogue; its official page now lives on Onlyplay's archived site, and the rules file is still served by the provider.

How a spin works, step by step

1. You set your bet with the plus and minus buttons and press Spin.
2. The reels stop and wins are counted on the 10 lines from left to right, starting on reel 1 with symbols next to each other.
3. The Book substitutes for every symbol except the Apple Bonus symbol, and can even stand in for a symbol that is not on the current line.
4. Three or more Books anywhere pay a Scatter win and start 10 free spins.
5. Before the next spin, you may buy a respin of any single reel at the price shown beneath it.

The 31.01% hit rate means roughly one spin in three returns something, a useful figure that most providers never publish.

Paytable

The values below come from the official rules file and the in-game paytable screen. The rules define a win as the bet for the spin multiplied by the coefficient for the combination.

The four fruits pay from two of a kind, the card ranks from three. The lemon is the symbol to watch: five on a line pay 500x, and it is the most valuable symbol to get as the expanding symbol in free spins. Book wins are paid anywhere on the reels and added to line wins.

Paytable values in money

To see what the coefficients mean at real stakes, here are the most useful combinations converted at three bet levels:

The gap between the bottom and the top of the table is large, which is typical for book slots: frequent small returns from card ranks, and rare big ones from lemons and from expanded symbols in free spins.

Free spins and the expanding symbol

Three or more Books anywhere award 10 free spins. Before they start, one standard symbol is chosen at random as the Expanding Symbol and shown at the top left of the screen. During the round:

• When three or more Expanding Symbols land anywhere, each one expands to cover its entire reel.
• Wins are then counted again on the paylines with the expanded reels in place.
• Three or more Books during the round add 10 more free spins.
• No respins are available while free spins run.

Each free spin is settled in a fixed order: normal line wins first, then Book wins, then the extra line wins created by the expansion. All of them are added to the round total.

Apple Bonus symbols

Green Apple Bonus symbols appear only in free spins. Each carries a cash value equal to a random multiplier from 1 to 60 times the free spins bet, and that win is credited to the round total as soon as it lands. The rules add one more line: the more Apple Bonus symbols land, the higher the multiplier for each of them. The Book cannot substitute for an apple.

A worked free spins example

At a bet of 1.00, three Books start the round and pay 2.00. Plum is picked as the Expanding Symbol. On spin four, three plums land on reels 1, 3 and 5 and expand. With plums covering three reels, each line that passes through them carries a plum win; at the published 3x for three plums, four winning lines would return 12.00. Two spins later an apple lands with a 15x value: 15.00. Round total: 2.00 + 12.00 + 15.00 = 29.00, plus any ordinary line wins along the way. The paytable in the game shows exactly which lines count after an expansion.

Reel respins: buying a second chance

After any normal spin, you can respin one reel at a time, as often as you like. Each reel shows a price beneath it, and that amount is taken from your balance before the respin. Only wins that involve the respun reel are paid. Changing your bet switches the feature off until you make a full spin again, and respins are never available in free spins or the bought bonus.

The obvious use is chasing a third Book: two Books on screen and a respin of an empty reel can complete the trigger. The price is displayed under each reel before you pay, so compare it with what the result could be worth. Respins are not free value. They add cost to the spin, and repeated respins can easily cost more than the stake itself.

A simple rule of thumb: decide before the session how many respins you will allow per spin, for example one, and only use them when two Books are already showing. Count every respin price as part of your stake when you judge how a session is going, because the bet field alone will not show it.

Rules that are easy to misread

• The Book can copy a missing symbol. When two or more Books sit in a line, each may become the highest-paying symbol even if that symbol is nowhere on the line.
• Free spins pay at the end. The round total, including Apple Bonus wins, is paid when the session completes.
• The triggering bet is locked. Free spins use the bet of the spin that started them; the Speed Up Bonus uses the bonus game bet you set in its window.
• Respins switch off when you change the bet. They come back after the next full spin.
• Multipliers do not combine. The rules state that coefficients are not summed or combined; each combination pays its own value.

Speed Up Bonus: the bonus buy

The Speed Up Bonus is Fruity Book's bonus buy. You open its window, set the bonus game bet, and press BUY; the price appears above the button and depends on the bet you chose. The bought round plays exactly like normal free spins, with the expanding symbol and apples, and its wins are calculated on the bonus game bet. Onlyplay does not publish the price as a multiple of the bet, so check it in the window before you confirm.

How it compares and where to play it

If you want the original book experience, Book of Ra and Book of Dead are the reference titles; both use an expanding symbol in free spins but have no cash symbols or paid respins. Fruity Book's extras give more decisions per session. There is no official free demo at the moment: Onlyplay's demo server answers that the game is not available, so the demo block on this page stays empty. Our demo guide explains how to judge a slot without one. Where a casino still offers the game, read the rules screen for the RTP, the respin prices and the Speed Up Bonus cost, and set a loss limit before playing.
