What a super scatter is

Pragmatic Play introduced the super scatter to give its best-known games a new top end without changing how they play. On most spins nothing looks different. The super scatter is a rare special version of the regular scatter. When it lands as part of a free spins trigger, it both counts toward the scatter total and adds a reward of its own: an instant cash prize on the scatter-pay grids, or an upgraded bonus mode on The Dog House and Sugar Rush editions.

Four slots on this hub use it: Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter, Sugar Rush Super Scatter and The Dog House Megaways 1000. The first three list a maximum win of 50,000x, the highest figure on the hub.

How it works on Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza

Both games share the same structure:

1. The super scatter lands only in the base game. It never appears inside free spins.
2. It counts as a scatter, so it helps reach the four needed to trigger free spins.
3. When the bonus triggers, each super scatter among the trigger symbols is counted.
4. The game pays an instant prize for that count: 1 super scatter pays 100x, 2 pay 500x, 3 pay 5,000x and 4 pay 50,000x.
5. The free spins round then plays as normal.

A worked example: at a 0.40 stake, four scatters land and one of them is a super scatter. The game pays 100 × 0.40 = 40.00 instantly, then starts the round with its usual 15 spins on Gates or 10 on Sweet Bonanza. The regular scatter pays for the scatter count are set out in the paytable in the usual way.

The steps between prizes are huge. Going from one super scatter to two multiplies the prize by five; from three to four by ten. The top prize needs four super scatters in a single trigger, and that 50,000x instant prize equals the game's listed maximum win.

What stays the same as the originals

It helps to see how little else changes. Gates of Olympus Super Scatter keeps the original's orbs from x2 to x500 and its 96.50% RTP; the jump from a 5,000x to a 50,000x maximum comes from the new symbol. Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter keeps bombs of x2 to x100 in free spins, 10 free spins with +5 for three scatters, and scatter pays of 3x, 5x and 100x for four, five and six scatters, while its maximum rises from 21,100x on the original to 50,000x. So if you already know the base game, the only new thing to learn is how many super scatters joined the trigger. Compare this with the 1000 and 2500 editions, which instead widen the multiplier range.

Not available in bought bonuses

This is the most important practical detail. On Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter, super scatters appear neither in free spins nor in bought bonuses. The same logic follows from Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, where the symbol lands only in the base game. A bonus buy at 100x or 500x skips the base-game trigger entirely, so it cannot produce the instant prize. If the super scatter is the reason you chose the game, natural play is the only route to it.

The buys still exist. Gates of Olympus Super Scatter sells free spins at 100x and super free spins at 500x with every orb at least x10; Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter sells 100x and 500x with every bomb at least x20. They just belong to a different part of the game.

Ante bet and the super scatter

Gates of Olympus Super Scatter's ante bet costs 50% extra instead of the usual 25% and doubles the free-spin chance. Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter keeps a 25% ante for twice the chance. Because the ante raises how often the bonus triggers in the base game, it also gives super scatters more trigger events to join, but the game rules decide the exact odds.

Sugar Rush and The Dog House versions

Sugar Rush Super Scatter

Here the super scatter is a large symbol that covers several cells of the 7×7 grid and counts together with ordinary scatters. The bonus starts on three or more scatters or any combination of scatters and super scatters. Rounds triggered with at least one super scatter can pay up to the game's maximum of 50,000x. Spot multipliers reach x1024 and, as in every Sugar Rush free spins round, the marks stay for the whole round.

The Dog House Megaways 1000

This edition uses the symbol to upgrade the round instead of paying cash. Scatters and super scatters land on all reels. If at least one super scatter is among the three or more trigger scatters, you get the Super Bonus: every spin brings a random number of wilds or sticky wilds on the middle four reels. With three to six super scatters it becomes the All Super Bonus, where all wilds stay. Wild multipliers here run from x1 to x1000 and multiply each other within a win, and the game's maximum win is 25,000x.
