Rise of Merlin Guide for Filipino Players with Peso Examples

Play'n GO built Rise of Merlin in 2019 around a crystal orb that substitutes on lines and also opens the bonus. Three orbs give 8 free spins where one drawn symbol grows to fill its reels, and every retrigger draws another. This guide prices each result on a ₱50 spin.

Bottom line

For a ten-line game, Rise of Merlin hides a lot of upside in one rule: retriggers stack special symbols instead of just adding spins. A 96.58% default return is a solid number, though Play'n GO scores the game 10 for volatility, so treat it as a slot for patient sessions rather than quick wins.

Who should try Rise of Merlin

Rise of Merlin came out on 17 June 2019 and casts the Arthurian wizard as a young man in a glowing tower, with an owl and a red dragon sharing the premium spots. Players who enjoy book-type slots, where a single special symbol can light up the whole screen, will feel at home. Players who want frequent, steady small wins will probably not, because Play'n GO's own rules sheet scores the volatility at 10 and calls it very high.

The game is compact: a 5x3 window, ten paylines at most, left-to-right wins, and a ceiling of 5,000 times your stake on any single result.

Setting up a ₱50 spin

Three dials make up the stake: active lines from one to ten, one to five coins on each line, and a coin value set by the casino. Ten lines with a single ₱5 coin gives a ₱50 spin, and that is the setup used for every peso figure below. If you want to spend less per spin, turn the coin value down rather than switching lines off. The special symbol in the bonus pays only across active lines, so five lines would cut every expansion in half.

What happens on a normal spin

When the reels settle, the game reads each active line starting from the far left reel. Matching symbols that run unbroken from there form a win, which is then multiplied by your coins per line. A line can only pay its single best combination; separate lines add together. Card ranks need three in a row to pay, while the four premium symbols and the orb already pay for two.

The crystal Magical Orb is the busiest symbol on the reels. It fills in for anything on a line, pays like the top premium when five line up, and three or more of them anywhere hand out a scatter prize plus the bonus. One spin can therefore deliver a line win, a scatter payment and a ticket to free spins all together. The orb itself never expands, though.

Paytable in pesos at ₱5 per line

Play'n GO lists line wins in coins, so with one ₱5 coin on each line the peso value is simply that coin figure times five. Which artwork sits in which premium tier is not published, so the rows below use tier names.

Symbol tierPairThreeFourFive
Orb wild, highest premium₱50₱500₱5,000₱25,000
Next premium down₱25₱150₱1,500₱8,000
Lower two premiums₱25₱100₱400₱3,000
Higher pair of card ranksnothing₱25₱150₱600
Remaining card ranksnothing₱25₱100₱400

The rules sheet leaves out the scatter amounts for the orb, so check those in the paytable inside the game before you play.

How the bonus picks its symbol

Three or more orbs start 8 free spins at the same ₱50 stake. Before the first one, a regular symbol is drawn at random to be the special symbol for the round. A premium draw needs only two copies on screen to expand; a card rank draw needs three. On each spin, normal line wins are counted first. Then the special symbol stretches over every position on the reels where it landed and pays again across all ten lines, and it does not matter if those reels are not next to one another.

Three bonus scenarios in pesos

Each scenario assumes the ₱50 spin, so a single line is worth ₱5.

  • Mid premium drawn, lands on reels 1, 4 and 5. Those three reels fill up, so all ten lines carry a trio, each paying 20 line bets: 20 x ₱5 x 10 = ₱1,000, or twenty spins' worth from one hit.
  • Same symbol, four reels. The per-line value jumps to 80, so the expansion is worth 80 x ₱5 x 10 = ₱4,000.
  • Lower card rank drawn, three reels. 5 x ₱5 x 10 = ₱250. Card draws only pay well across four or five reels, where they reach ₱1,000 and ₱4,000.

At the very top, the highest premium covering all five reels pays 5,000 x ₱5 x 10 = ₱250,000. That equals 5,000 times the stake and is the most the game can pay.

Retriggers and the second special symbol

Landing three or more orbs during free spins adds 8 more spins and draws a new special symbol, which works alongside the first. A further retrigger draws a third. This is the feature that sets the game apart from older book slots, where one symbol has to carry the whole round.

In practice, a second symbol does two things. It raises the odds that something expands on each spin, and it gives you another shot at a premium if the first draw was a card rank. Two different symbols can even expand on the same spin, and their payments are added together.

Return, risk and the build your site runs

Play'n GO's default RTP for the game is 96.58%. Cheaper builds sit at 94.51% and 91.51%, then 87.56% and finally 84.55%, with the operator deciding which one loads; Malta-licensed sites cannot use the bottom three. Over a long stretch, the gap between the top and bottom builds is about ₱12 for every ₱100 wagered, so find the RTP line in the help menu before you settle on a site.

The 10 for volatility is the highest score on the provider's scale. It comes from how the money is distributed: most of the return lives inside free spins, and the big numbers arrive only when a premium special symbol fills four reels or all five. Plan for many spins between bonuses. A ₱2,500 budget covers 50 spins at ₱50, which can easily pass with no feature, or 250 spins at ₱10.

Compared with Book of Dead, which starts its bonus with 10 spins and a single special symbol at a 96.21% default return, Rise of Merlin trades two starting spins for the stacking rule and a slightly higher return. Its paytable values are the same as those of Legacy of Dead.

Reading the help screen before you commit

Every Play'n GO game carries a help menu, and in Rise of Merlin it answers the questions this page cannot settle for your specific site. Open it once before any session and look for three items. First, the RTP sentence, which tells you whether you are on the 96.58% version or a reduced one. Second, the bet limits, since the operator decides the lowest and highest peso amounts allowed. Third, the paytable page that lists what three, four and five orbs pay as a scatter, a figure missing from the public rules sheet. It takes less than a minute and tells you more about your odds than any number of spins.

The gamble button

Any base game win can be risked on a face-down card. Pick the right color and it doubles, which happens half the time on average. Pick the right suit and it quadruples, a one in four shot. The gamble can run five times in a row at most and is disabled in autoplay. According to the rules it has no effect on overall RTP. A ₱100 win called correctly on color becomes ₱200; a wrong call leaves you with nothing from that spin.

Playing in the Philippines and using the demo

Gaming in the country is regulated by PAGCOR, which licenses operators and sets the minimum age at 21. If you play for real money, use a PAGCOR-licensed site and set a loss limit before the session starts. To learn the rhythm of the game first, the free demo on this page runs Play'n GO's own practice version with play money; a few hundred spins there show how far apart the bonuses can be and how much the symbol draw changes each round.

Questions Filipino players ask

What RTP does Rise of Merlin have?

Play'n GO's default build returns 96.58%. Lower versions down to 84.55% exist too, so look at the RTP shown in the help menu of the game at your site.

How much can I win on a ₱50 spin?

The cap is 5,000 times the stake, which is ₱250,000 on a ₱50 spin. It is reached when the highest premium expands across all five reels during free spins.

What starts the free spins?

Three or more Magical Orbs in any positions. You get 8 free spins and a randomly drawn expanding symbol, and every later trigger inside the round adds 8 spins plus another special symbol.

Why is a premium draw better than a card rank?

A premium expands from just two copies and pays far more per line. Card ranks require a third copy before growing, and their values stay small below four reels.

Can I buy the Rise of Merlin bonus?

There is no feature buy in this game. Orbs are the only way into free spins. Besides that, the single optional add-on is risking base game wins on a card.

What is the minimum age to play in the Philippines?

PAGCOR sets 21 as the minimum age for gaming, and real money play should only happen on PAGCOR-licensed sites. The demo on this page uses play money.

Is the free demo the same as the real game?

Yes. It is Play'n GO's official practice version, identical in rules and pay values to the cash version, only with play money.
