Our verdict

Pickle Bandits is a well built mid volatility game with a surprisingly high 12,000x ceiling. The Global Multiplier gives every cascade a reason to watch, and the mix of additive and multiplicative Wilds keeps results varied. Check the RTP version before you play, because the 94.33% build is a clear step down.

What we like

  • Max win of 12,000x in every game mode

What Pickle Bandits is

Bullshark Games released Pickle Bandits on July 23, 2024. The cast is a gang of pickles dressed as outlaws, set in a wild west town and saloon. Under the comedy, the game is a modern line slot: five reels, four rows and 14 fixed paylines, with cascades after every win and a Global Multiplier that grows during a spin.

The provider's product sheet gives a volatility of 3 out of 5, RTP versions of 96.27% and 94.33%, a hit frequency of 23.78% and a maximum win of 12,000x the bet, reachable in the base game and in all bonus modes. Default bet levels run from 0.10 to 100.

How a spin works step by step

  1. Choose a bet between 0.10 and 100, or whatever range your casino allows.
  2. Twenty symbols land on the 5x4 grid.
  3. Any Mystery symbols, drawn as Wanted posters, reveal what they are. They can turn into one paying symbol (all Mystery symbols reveal the same one), into Wilds, or into Multiplier Wilds.
  4. Wins are paid on the 14 lines. Winning symbols are removed and new ones drop in, a cascade.
  5. Any Multiplier Wild that took part in a win unlocks its value into the Global Multiplier, which applies to the next cascade.
  6. The cascade repeats until no new win forms. In the base game, the Global Multiplier resets before the next spin.

Symbols

The official screenshots show the full set. Low pays are the card ranks A, K, Q, J and 10. The western premiums are a revolver, a horseshoe, a cowboy hat, a boot and handcuffs. Special symbols are the Wanted poster Mystery symbol, the regular Wild, the Multiplier Wild, and the money bag Scatter.

Bullshark does not publish the paytable values outside the game, so we do not quote them. Open the paytable in the game to see the exact pays at your stake.

The Mystery symbol is the one to watch. Because all Mystery symbols on the screen reveal the same paying symbol, a cluster of Wanted posters can turn into several matching symbols at once and fill a line or two by itself. When the reveal is a Multiplier Wild instead, it locks in place and becomes the engine of the Global Multiplier.

Wilds and Multiplier Wilds explained

There are two kinds of Wild, and the difference matters.

  • Wild. Substitutes for any paying symbol and is removed from the grid after it takes part in a win.
  • Multiplier Wild. Also substitutes for any paying symbol, but carries a value. After it joins a win, the value is unlocked and added to the Global Multiplier for the next cascade. The symbol stays fixed in place, does not drop down, and turns into a regular Wild.

Multiplier Wild values come in two types:

TypePossible values
Additive+1x, +2x, +3x, +4x, +5x, +10x, +25x, +50x, +100x
Multiplicativex2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8, x9, x10

When several are unlocked in the same spin, additive values are applied first and multiplicative values second. That order is generous: adding first builds a bigger base for the multiplication. Read our multipliers guide for more on mixed systems.

The Global Multiplier and a worked example

The Global Multiplier is shown above the reels and applies to all wins. It starts each base spin at its default and resets when the spin ends. Inside a spin, it only grows.

A worked example at a 1.00 bet: a spin reveals two Mystery symbols as Multiplier Wilds, one +5x and one x3. The first cascade pays 0.60 before any boost. Both Wilds took part, so their values unlock for the next cascade: the +5x is added first, then the x3 applies. If the multiplier stood at 1x, it becomes 6x and then 18x. The second cascade pays 1.20 in line value, now worth 21.60. A third cascade of 0.80 also takes x18 and pays 14.40. Total for the spin: 36.60. The exact starting value and display can differ, so watch the counter in the demo.

Outlaw Free Spins

Three or more Scatters landing together in the base game start Outlaw Free Spins:

  • 3 Scatters: 6 free spins.
  • 4 Scatters: 8 free spins, and the Global Multiplier starts at 5x.

During the round the Global Multiplier is progressive: it keeps everything it gains until the feature ends instead of resetting between spins. Each Scatter that lands during the round adds one more spin. That is the key to the 12,000x cap. A Multiplier Wild in the first spins lifts every win for the rest of the round, so a strong start matters a lot.

The four Scatter trigger is worth far more than the two extra spins suggest. Starting at 5x means even the first small cascade of the round is paid five times over, and every Multiplier Wild after that adds to an already raised base. With additive values applied before multiplicative ones, a +10x Wild on a 5x start followed by a x3 Wild gives 45x, while the same two Wilds from a 1x start give 33x.

Bonus buy and FeatureSpins

Where allowed, Pickle Bandits offers four paid options. Costs come from the product sheet and match the demo session.

OptionCostVolatilityEffect
BonusHunt FeatureSpins3xHighEach spin is 5 times more likely to trigger free spins
FeatureSpins20xHighEach spin lands at least four Mystery symbols
Outlaw Free Spins100xVery high6 free spins with a progressive Global Multiplier
Extreme Outlaw Free Spins200xHigh8 free spins, Global Multiplier starts at 5x

The two FeatureSpins modes work like ante bets and super spins: you pay more per spin for a better chance of features. The two buys are standard bonus buys. Note the volatility labels: the 200x Extreme buy is rated high, one step below the very high 100x buy. Paying double gets you two extra spins and a 5x head start, and the provider classes that combination as the steadier of the two.

RTP versions

The product sheet lists two builds. In the 96.27% version, the modes return 96.31% (BonusHunt), 96.28% (FeatureSpins), 96.34% (Outlaw) and 96.32% (Extreme). In the 94.33% version they drop to between 94.28% and 94.31%. Nearly two points separate the builds, about 19.40 of expected loss per 1,000 spins at 1.00. Always check the rules screen before you play; our RTP guide explains why.

How to test it in the demo

The free demo above uses the provider's launcher. Play 200 spins and note how often Mystery symbols turn into Multiplier Wilds, how often those connect, and how high the Global Multiplier gets inside one base spin. Then try a handful of BonusHunt spins to compare the trigger rate. If you want another bandit themed cascade slot for comparison, Le Bandit is a good reference point. For stakes, plan for at least 150 bets per session; medium volatility is gentler than most modern releases, but free spins still carry most of the value.

Bankroll and stake sizing

Medium volatility and a hit frequency near 24% make Pickle Bandits gentler on a balance than many modern releases, but the 12,000x ceiling still comes from rare free spins rounds with an early Multiplier Wild. A sensible plan balances both sides.

  • At a 0.40 stake, 200 spins cost 80. That covers plenty of base game action and gives the Scatters a fair chance.
  • BonusHunt FeatureSpins cost 1.20 per spin at that stake, so the same 80 covers about 66 spins with a five times higher trigger rate.
  • The 100x buy at 0.40 costs 40, and the Extreme buy costs 80, the entire budget. Only buy at a stake where one weak round does not end your session.
  • Set a loss limit and a win target before you start.

Pick the higher RTP version when you have a choice. No stake plan makes up for a build that returns two points less.
