What Fire Joker is
Play'n GO released Fire Joker on 13 June 2016 as the third game in its Joker series. The look is a classic fruit machine with a fiery twist: a harlequin backdrop, cherries, lemons, plums and grapes, a bar, a star, a lucky seven, and a grinning joker who acts as the wild.
The game runs on three reels with three rows and five fixed paylines. Only three of a kind pays, so every win covers a full line across all three reels. There is no free spins round, no gamble and no feature buy. Instead, two built-in features do the heavy lifting: the Respin of Fire and the Wheel of Multipliers.
The provider lists a default return of 96.15%, medium volatility, a maximum win of 800x the stake and a standard bet range of 0.05 to 100.
Besides the 96.15% default, Play'n GO offers operators builds at 94.23%, 91.23%, 87.24% and 84.26%.
How a spin works, step by step
- Set the stake. All five lines are always active and each carries one coin, so your total bet is five times the coin value. The minimum is 0.05 and the standard maximum is 100.
- Spin. Three reels stop on a 3x3 window.
- Line wins are checked. Three identical symbols on any of the five lines pay. The joker substitutes for any symbol.
- Near miss check. If two reels show stacked symbols and no line wins, the third reel spins again for free.
- Full screen check. If all nine positions show the same symbol, the Wheel of Multipliers spins and multiplies the total win.
That is the whole game. A round takes seconds, which is a big part of the appeal for players who find feature-heavy slots slow.
Symbols and paytable
Play'n GO's rules sheet lists wins for three of a kind as a multiple of the line bet. With five lines, the line bet is one fifth of your total stake, so the right-hand column shows what each line pays at a 1.00 total bet:
| Symbol | 3 on a line (x line bet) | Per line at 1.00 total bet |
|---|---|---|
| Fire Joker (wild) | 80x | 16.00 |
| Seven | 25x | 5.00 |
| Star | 20x | 4.00 |
| Bar | 15x | 3.00 |
| Plum | 7x | 1.40 |
| Grape | 6x | 1.20 |
| Lemon | 5x | 1.00 |
| Cherry | 4x | 0.80 |
| Blue X | 2x | 0.40 |
Two things stand out. First, the lowest symbol, the blue X, pays less than your total stake on one line, so a single X line is a net loss on the spin. Second, the fruit pays are bunched closely together, while the seven, star and bar sit a clear step above. Most of the game's value lives in multi-line hits and full screens, not in single lines.
The Fire Joker wild
The joker can land in any position on all three reels and substitutes for every normal symbol. A single joker placed where several lines cross can complete more than one line at once, so one wild can turn a quiet spin into a multi-line win. Three jokers on a line form the top combination at 80x the line bet.
The joker also matters for the two features. Stacked symbols on two reels, or a screen of nine identical symbols, are the routes to the respin and the wheel, and the wild is the symbol that turns them into the biggest wins.
Respin of Fire
When two reels land fully stacked with symbols and the spin has no winning line, the game awards one free respin of the remaining reel. The two stacked reels stay locked in place while the third spins again. If two different pairs of reels could qualify, the game keeps the pair that offers the biggest potential reward.
In practice: reels 1 and 2 stop covered in plums and reel 3 shows a mix with no plum on a line. Instead of a dead spin, reel 3 gets another try at no cost. One plum, or a joker, in the right row creates a line win; three plums or jokers stacked on reel 3 fill the screen and send you to the wheel.
This feature smooths the game. It turns some of the most frustrating near misses into second chances, which is part of why the provider rates the game medium rather than high volatility.
Wheel of Multipliers
If all nine positions show the same symbol, the fiery wheel spins and multiplies your total win by a random value up to x10. Play'n GO publishes the x10 maximum but not the individual segments or their odds, so you will see the actual values only on the wheel itself in the game.
A full screen means every one of the five lines wins at once, so the base amount the wheel multiplies is already five line wins. This is the only multiplier in the game, and it is where the 800x cap comes from.
Worked example: from a single line to the cap
Take a 1.00 total stake, so each of the five lines carries 0.20.
- One line of sevens. 25 x 0.20 = 5.00, five times the stake.
- Full screen of lemons. All five lines win: 5 x (5 x 0.20) = 5.00. The wheel then multiplies that total; at the top value of x10 it becomes 50.00.
- Full screen of sevens. 5 x 5.00 = 25.00 before the wheel, and 250.00 if the wheel lands on x10.
- Full screen of jokers. 5 x 16.00 = 80.00, or 80 times the stake. With x10 from the wheel, that becomes 800.00, exactly the 800x cap the provider lists.
The math shows how tight the game is: the absolute ceiling requires nine jokers and the best wheel segment on the same spin. Play'n GO puts the chance of reaching maximum exposure at about 1 in 559,000 spins.
RTP builds, volatility and how it compares
Play'n GO offers five return settings: 96.15%, 94.23%, 91.23%, 87.24% and 84.26%. The default is the 96% build, and the three lowest are not available to operators licensed in Malta. Over the long run, RTP of 96.15% returns about 96.15 per 100 staked, against 84.26 for the lowest build. The provider rates volatility as medium.
| Fire Joker | Starburst | Book of Dead | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Release | 2016 | 2012 | 2016 |
| Grid and lines | 3x3, 5 lines | 5x3, 10 lines | 5x3, up to 10 lines |
| Default RTP | 96.15% | 96.08% | 96.21% |
| Volatility | medium | low | high |
| Max win | 800x | 800x | 5,000x |
If you like Fire Joker's short sessions, Starburst offers a similar ceiling with even lower volatility. For a bigger top end from the same provider, Book of Dead trades steadiness for a 5,000x cap.
Bet settings and what the casino controls
Because each line carries one coin, the coin value is simply a fifth of your stake. Play'n GO lists coin values from 0.01 to 20.00, which gives the standard range of 0.05 to 100 per spin; a high-stakes configuration that some operators enable goes up to 1,000. The casino also picks which of the five RTP builds you get and can change the default set of coin values, so the bet options you see may be narrower than the full list.
The feature rules described on this page come straight from the provider's rules sheet. What the casino sets is the return build and the stake limits, and both are listed on the rules screen inside the game.
How to test it in the demo
The demo on this page is Play'n GO's own practice version with virtual credits. A few useful checks (see also our demo guide):
- Open the paytable and look at the line diagram, so you know which positions each of the five lines covers.
- Count how often the Respin of Fire triggers in a few hundred spins, and how often it converts.
- Note whether a full screen arrives at all in that sample. It is the only path to large wins.
- Check the rules screen for the RTP of that build and the bet limits.
Bankroll and stake sizing
Medium volatility and quick rounds mean Fire Joker burns through spins fast. Because the cap is 800x, the stake you pick sets a hard limit on what any spin can return, so there is no reason to raise it to chase a big feature. A balance of a couple of hundred spins at your stake gives the respin and wheel time to show up. Decide on a session limit before you start and stick to a flat stake.

Frequently asked questions
What is the RTP of Fire Joker?
The default build returns 96.15%. Play'n GO also offers 94.23%, 91.23%, 87.24% and 84.26% versions, and the casino decides which one runs. The figure for your version is shown in the game rules.
Does Fire Joker have free spins?
No. Fire Joker has no free spins round and no bonus buy. Its features are the Respin of Fire, a free respin of one reel after a near miss, and the Wheel of Multipliers for full-screen wins.
How does the Respin of Fire work?
When two reels show stacked symbols and no line wins, the third reel spins once more for free while the other two stay locked. If two pairs of reels qualify, the game keeps the pair with the biggest potential reward.
What triggers the Wheel of Multipliers?
All nine positions must show the same symbol. The wheel then multiplies the total win of that spin by a random value up to x10. The individual wheel values are shown in the game, not in the provider's sheet.
What is the maximum win in Fire Joker?
The cap is 800 times the stake. It is reached with nine jokers, which pay 80x the stake on five lines, multiplied by x10 on the wheel. Play'n GO puts the odds at about 1 in 559,000 spins.
How many paylines does Fire Joker have?
Five fixed paylines on a 3x3 grid. All five are always active, each carries one coin, and only three identical symbols on a line pay. The joker wild substitutes for any symbol.
Is Fire Joker high volatility?
No. Play'n GO rates it medium volatility. The respin smooths out near misses, and the 800x cap keeps the top end modest compared with high-volatility slots.
