What Fishin' Frenzy is
Fishin' Frenzy is a Blueprint Gaming slot that the provider lists with a release date of 1 November 2017. It has since grown into a whole series, with Blueprint's catalogue naming Fishin' Frenzy The Big Catch, Fishin' Frenzy Megaways and a Fishin' Frenzy Jackpot King version, but this guide is about the original game. It is a classic five-reel slot with three rows and 10 paylines, set under the sea with a cartoon fishing theme.
The formula is easy to describe. In the base game you spin for line wins. Land three or more scatters and you go fishing: during free games, any Fisherman on the reels collects the cash values printed on the tags of the fish in view. After any win you can also gamble on the colour of a card to double it.
Blueprint publishes five RTP builds for the game and a stake range, but no volatility rating and no maximum win. We stick to what the provider states and point you to the rules screen for the rest.
RTP builds and stake range
The provider's game data lists each build with its own game ID:
| Build | RTP |
|---|---|
| Standard | 96.12% |
| 94 build | 94% |
| 93 build | 93% |
| 92 build | 92% |
| 90 build | 90% |
The gap between the top and bottom builds is about six percentage points. Over 1,000 spins at 1.00, that is the difference between an expected loss of roughly 39 and roughly 100 in the long run. Results in any single session will swing far more than that, but the build still decides how fast your balance drains on average, so it is worth checking before you play.
Blueprint lists the minimum and maximum bet as 0.20 and 500 in pounds, with currency conversion applied elsewhere. The feature text on the same page mentions stakes from as little as 10p, so the exact minimum at your casino is shown in the game.
How a spin works, step by step
- You choose your bet. The provider's screenshots show it as a bet per line across all 10 lines, for example 0.20 per line for a 2.00 total.
- The five reels stop on a 5x3 window, with the 10 lines marked on both sides of the reels.
- Line wins are paid for matching symbols on a line, using the in-game paytable.
- Three or more boat scatters anywhere in view start the free games.
- After a win, you can collect it or take the red or black card gamble.
Symbols on the reels
The provider's own screenshots show the full cast. The higher symbols are the Fisherman, a pelican, a tackle box and a rod and reel. The lower symbols are the card ranks A, K, Q, J and 10, drawn in a bubbly underwater style. Two symbols have special jobs:
- The boat is the scatter. It is marked SCATTER on the reels, and three or more in view trigger free games.
- The fish carry cash tags. In the screenshots each fish shows a value such as 4.00, 10.00, 30.00 or 40.00 at a 2.00 total bet. They matter most in free games, when a Fisherman is there to collect them.
Blueprint does not publish the line pay values outside the game, so we do not reproduce a paytable here. Open the paytable from the menu to see what five Fishermen or five pelicans pay at your stake.
Fisherman free games
Three or more scatters in view award up to 20 free games. The provider's wording is "up to 20", and the screenshots show a round counting from Free Game 1 of 20. The exact number for three, four or five scatters is listed in the in-game rules.
During the free games, the fish and the Fisherman work together in a multiplier-free money collect:
- Fish with cash tags land on the reels as normal.
- Whenever a Fisherman is in view, he catches every fish on screen and nets the value of their tags.
- That total is paid on top of any line wins from the same spin.
There is no meter, no level-up and no sticky symbol to follow. Each free game is a fresh check: is there a Fisherman, and how many fish are swimming around him.
That makes the Fisherman the symbol to watch, not the fish. Fish values on their own are only potential; a spin with four high tags and no Fisherman pays nothing from them, while a spin with one modest fish and a Fisherman pays that fish in full. Over a full round of free games, the number of spins that include a Fisherman usually decides the result more than the size of any single tag. Keep that in mind when you compare rounds: a long feature with few Fishermen can pay less than a short one where he lands often.
Worked example from the provider's own screenshot
One of Blueprint's screenshots shows the very first free game at a 2.00 total bet. Reel 1 holds three fish tagged 10.00, 30.00 and 10.00, reel 5 holds a fish tagged 4.00, and a Fisherman lands on reel 2. He collects all four fish: 10.00 + 30.00 + 10.00 + 4.00 = 54.00, which is 27 times the 2.00 stake from a single spin.
Scale it to your own bet and the maths stays the same. At 0.20 total, the same screen would collect 5.40; at 10.00 total, it would be worth 270.00. A screen full of fish with no Fisherman, on the other hand, pays nothing from the tags at all. That is the whole tension of the feature.
The red or black gamble
After each winning spin you can gamble the prize on the colour of a face-down card. Guess right and the win doubles; guess wrong and it is gone. A 3.00 win becomes 6.00 or nothing. The chance on a colour guess is one in two, so the gamble does not improve your long-run return; it only makes your results more extreme. If you prefer a calmer session, simply collect every win.
Bankroll and stake habits
Because the free games carry most of the value and their size depends on whether a Fisherman shows up, results vary a lot from round to round. Some practical rules:
- Choose a stake that gives you a few hundred spins. With 60.00 and a 0.20 total bet you have 300 spins.
- Judge free games by their average, not by the best one you have seen. Many rounds end with only a handful of collects.
- Do not gamble wins out of habit. A run of doubles is exciting, but one wrong card wipes them.
- Set a loss limit and a time limit before you start, and keep your stake flat.
Our volatility guide explains how to read a game's risk when the provider does not publish a rating.
How Fishin' Frenzy compares
Fishin' Frenzy uses a formula that many later fishing slots share. Pragmatic Play's Big Bass Bonanza uses the same idea of a fisherman collecting fish values in free spins, but adds a ladder in which every fourth fisherman collected brings extra spins and a higher collection multiplier. Fishin' Frenzy is plainer: no multipliers, no bonus buy and only 10 lines. Choose it if you want the formula in its simplest form.
Testing and reading the rules
Blueprint's game page offers screenshots rather than a public playable demo, so we cannot embed an official free version here. Our demo slots guide explains how to find play-money modes safely. Whichever way you try the game, check these points first:
- The RTP line in the rules. If it reads 90% to 94%, you are on a lower build than the 96.12% standard.
- The minimum and maximum stake, which depend on the operator and currency.
- The number of free games for three, four and five scatters.
- Whether the gamble is enabled, since operators can switch it off.
Play for real money only if you are 18 or older, and treat every session as entertainment with a fixed budget.
