UPI casinos in India: Paytm, PhonePe and rupee payments explained
UPI is the fastest way to move rupees in India, so it is the first method most players look for in a casino cashier. Here is which reviewed operators list it, how a deposit and a withdrawal work step by step, the limits you will meet, and why the Online Gaming Act, 2025 makes UPI payments to casinos unreliable.

What UPI is and why players want it
Unified Payments Interface is the real-time payment network run by the National Payments Corporation of India. It links your bank account to an app such as PhonePe, Paytm or Google Pay, so you can send rupees with a UPI ID or a QR code and approve the transfer with your UPI PIN. There is no card number to type, the money moves in seconds, and nearly every Indian bank supports it.
For a casino deposit those qualities look ideal: payment in rupees with no currency conversion, instant confirmation and no need to share card details with an offshore website. That is exactly why the method needs a careful look before you use it.
UPI, Paytm and PhonePe are not the same thing
Casino cashiers often list these names side by side, which causes confusion. UPI is the network. PhonePe, Paytm and Google Pay are apps that connect to it, and when you pay through them by UPI the money leaves your bank account directly. Paytm also runs its own wallet balance, so a cashier button marked Paytm may mean a UPI payment through the Paytm app or a wallet payment, depending on how the casino's payment provider has set it up.
The difference matters for refunds and records. A UPI transfer always shows in your bank statement with a reference number, while a wallet payment shows only inside the app. Whichever button you see, the payment is processed by the casino's provider, not by the casino itself, and the payee name shown in your app is usually that provider's.
The legal position comes first
The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 came into force on 1 May 2026. It prohibits offering and advertising online money games in India, and it also bars banks, payment systems and other financial institutions from facilitating payments for them. UPI is part of that regulated payment system.
In practice this means:
- A casino may still show UPI, Paytm or PhonePe in its cashier, but your bank or UPI app can decline the payment.
- Transfers that do go through may be flagged later, and your bank can ask questions about them or restrict the account.
- If a deposit is lost in the middle, the bank's usual dispute process may not help, because the recipient was an unauthorised gaming operator.
Petitions against the Act are pending before the Supreme Court, and the situation may change. Until it does, we do not recommend routing casino payments through third-party UPI IDs, intermediaries or VPNs, and every operator below forbids VPN use in its own terms. The free demos in our reviews need no payment at all.
Which reviewed casinos list UPI
We only name a casino here when its own payment information lists the method. Availability can change from day to day, so the cashier after you log in is the final word.
| Casino | Indian methods in its own information | Min deposit | Withdrawal limits and speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mostbet | UPI, Paytm, PhonePe, RuPay, bank transfer | ₹100 (₹600 for the welcome bonus) | ₹600 to ₹1,20,000 per transaction; e-wallets minutes to 24 h |
| Melbet | UPI, PayTM, bank transfer | Varies by method | Local and mobile methods 15 min to 1 h for verified accounts |
| 1WIN | Local methods for India, list shown in the cashier | About 5 to 10 USD equivalent | Up to 50 USD equivalent in 1 to 60 min, more within 5 days |
Mostbet gives the most detail: UPI, Paytm and PhonePe are all named, the minimum deposit is ₹100, and Mostbet charges no withdrawal fee of its own, although the payment provider may. One trap is worth knowing: at Mostbet, creating a withdrawal request resets any bonus balance to zero. Our Mostbet review covers the bonus terms.
Melbet lists UPI and PayTM in its payment guide and quotes 15 minutes to one hour for local methods once your account is verified. Deposits must be turned over once before withdrawal, and withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with.
1WIN names India among its main markets with local payment methods, but its public payment list does not spell out UPI. Log in and check the INR cashier before you rely on it. The 1WIN review has its full withdrawal terms.
Other operators in our India casino ranking, such as 1xBet and Pin-Up, accept rupees, but their own information does not name UPI, so check the cashier. Stake lists INR bank transfer rather than UPI.
How a UPI deposit works step by step
- Open an INR account. The currency is usually fixed at registration. A rupee account means your ₹1,000 deposit arrives as ₹1,000, not as a converted dollar amount.
- Choose UPI in the cashier and enter the amount. Check the minimum first; at Mostbet it is ₹100, and a welcome bonus may need more.
- Pay with your app. The cashier shows a QR code, a UPI ID or a collect request. Approve it in PhonePe, Paytm or another UPI app with your PIN.
- Check the payee name. If the name on the request is an unknown individual or an unrelated business, stop. Paying a personal UPI ID leaves you with no protection at all.
- Wait for confirmation. Most successful UPI deposits show within minutes. Keep the UPI transaction reference in case support needs it.
How a UPI withdrawal works
- Verify your account first. Upload your ID, proof of address and a statement for your payment method before you win anything. Unverified accounts are the most common reason for delays.
- Meet the turnover rule. Several operators require each deposit to be wagered at least once. Deposit ₹2,000 and you must place ₹2,000 in bets before withdrawing.
- Request the payout to your own UPI ID or bank account. The name must match your casino profile. Third-party accounts are refused.
- Allow for processing time. The casino approves first, then the payment provider sends the money. Mostbet quotes minutes to 24 hours for e-wallets, Melbet 15 minutes to one hour for local methods.
Withdrawals face the same legal restriction as deposits, and a bank can hold or query an incoming payment from a gaming operator.
Limits to plan around
Three separate sets of limits apply to every UPI casino payment, and the lowest one wins:
- The casino's limits. At Mostbet, ₹100 minimum deposit, ₹600 minimum withdrawal and ₹1,20,000 maximum per withdrawal transaction.
- Your bank's UPI limits. NPCI allows up to ₹1,00,000 a day for ordinary UPI transfers, and many banks set lower limits, especially for new UPI registrations.
- The payment provider's limits. The intermediary behind the casino cashier can impose its own caps and waiting times.
A worked example: you win ₹1,80,000 at Mostbet. Because one withdrawal is capped at ₹1,20,000, you would need two requests, for example ₹1,20,000 and ₹60,000, and each one goes through approval separately.
Pros and cons of UPI at casinos
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Payments in rupees with no conversion fees | Banks are barred from processing payments for online money games since 1 May 2026 |
| Deposits usually confirm within minutes | Cashiers often route payments through intermediaries or personal UPI IDs |
| No card details shared with the casino | Little or no recourse if a payment goes missing |
| Low minimums, such as ₹100 at Mostbet | Bank and provider limits can split or delay large withdrawals |
What about crypto instead?
Some players turn to crypto casinos when UPI fails. Crypto avoids the bank at the casino end but brings its own problems: prices move while you play, blockchain transfers cannot be reversed, and buying crypto still starts with an Indian bank or exchange. Winnings from online games remain taxable at 30% under Section 115BBJ of the Income Tax Act whichever method you use.

Frequently asked questions
Which online casinos accept UPI in India?
Among the casinos we review, Mostbet lists UPI, Paytm and PhonePe, and Melbet lists UPI and PayTM in its own payment information. 1WIN offers local methods for India, but the exact list appears only in the cashier. Availability changes often, so check after logging in.
Is it legal to deposit at a casino with UPI?
The Online Gaming Act, 2025, in force since 1 May 2026, prohibits online money games and bars banks and payment systems from facilitating payments for them. A UPI payment to a casino can therefore be declined or questioned by your bank. Petitions against the Act are pending in the Supreme Court.
What is the minimum UPI deposit?
It depends on the casino. Mostbet's minimum is ₹100, while its welcome bonus needs a ₹600 deposit and the free spins ₹1,200. Other operators set minimums per method, shown in the cashier.
How long does a UPI withdrawal take?
After the casino approves it, Mostbet quotes minutes to 24 hours for e-wallets and Melbet 15 minutes to one hour for local methods on verified accounts. Unverified accounts and unmet turnover rules are the usual causes of delay.
Is there a maximum UPI withdrawal?
Yes. Mostbet caps each withdrawal at ₹1,20,000, and your bank's UPI limits also apply; NPCI allows up to ₹1,00,000 a day for ordinary transfers, and many banks set less. Larger wins are paid in several requests.
Should I pay a casino deposit to a personal UPI ID?
We advise against it. A personal UPI ID gives you no protection if the money does not arrive, and your bank cannot help recover a payment to an unauthorised gaming operator. Stop if the payee name looks unrelated to the casino.
Are casino winnings received via UPI taxable?
Yes. Net winnings from online games are taxed at 30% under Section 115BBJ of the Income Tax Act, regardless of the payment method. Speak to a tax adviser about your own case.
