What Money Train 2 is
Relax Gaming launched Money Train 2 on September 2, 2020, a year after the original Money Train. The studio described it as its biggest release of the year, and its own figures back that up: it was Relax's most successful launch to date, with day-one game win tripling the previous record. The theme leaves the Wild West behind. The same crew of outlaws now rides through a steampunk, post-apocalyptic landscape, with war paint, darker clothes and a few new faces, such as the Necromancer.
The changes go deeper than the art. According to Relax, the original was praised for its bonus but criticized for a thin base game, so the sequel added a base game respin feature. The maximum win also grew from 20,000x to 50,000x your bet. Stakes run from 0.10 to 20 per spin.
On RTP, the provider's own game configuration lists 96.40% for the standard build and 98.00% for the buy feature. Relax's game page also shows a German build at 90%. The version your operator runs is stated in the game rules. The exact reel layout, line count and volatility rating are shown in the in-game paytable and rules.
How a base game spin works
- Set your stake, from 0.10 up to 20.
- The reels spin and regular wins are paid according to the in-game paytable.
- If two bonus symbols land anywhere, Respins start. Each bonus symbol reveals a multiplier.
- Respins continue until a win has been built up. The revealed multipliers are added together into one accumulated multiplier.
- That accumulated multiplier is applied to the total win of the respin sequence.
- If three or more scatters land, the Money Cart Bonus Round starts instead.
The respin feature is what separates the sequel from the first game. It gives the base game a way to produce sizeable wins on its own, instead of acting only as a waiting room for the bonus.
Respins with a worked example
The multipliers revealed by the two bonus symbols are listed in the game rules; the values below are only an illustration of the math. Say you play at 1.00 and the two bonus symbols reveal x3 and x5. Because they are added, not multiplied, the accumulated multiplier is x8. The respins run until a win appears, and suppose the total comes to 2.50. The sequence then pays 2.50 x 8 = 20.00. If the same two symbols had revealed x3 and x10, the multiplier would be x13 and the same 2.50 would become 32.50. The multiplier count matters more than the base win itself.
The Money Cart Bonus Round
Three or more scatters start the Money Cart round, a hold-and-respin style bonus feature. You begin with 3 spins. Every symbol that lands gives you the chance of more spins, so a round can run much longer than three spins. Scatters that land with a value add that value to your winnings.
When a reel fills up completely with symbols, another column is added to the grid. Relax describes this as unlocking up to two additional reels, and those extra columns bring more positions for values and characters to land on. The round ends when the spins run out, and the values on the grid are paid.
The characters explained
The Money Cart round is driven by special symbols, and knowing each one is the key to reading a bonus as it unfolds.
| Symbol | What it does |
|---|---|
| Collector | Sums up all values on the grid and adds his own value to that total |
| Payer | Adds her own value to the pot |
| Sniper | Doubles the value of up to 8 symbols |
| Necromancer | Brings used non-persistent characters back to life so they act again |
| Persistent versions | Activate on every spin instead of only once |
The distinction between persistent and non-persistent characters is where the big wins come from. A normal character acts once and then runs out of steam. A persistent one keeps firing on every remaining spin, so a persistent Sniper or Collector landing early can snowball values over the rest of the round. The Necromancer is the reset button for the ordinary ones.
Worked example of a Money Cart spin
Here is how the characters chain, using illustrative values at a 1.00 stake. The grid holds five value symbols worth 1x, 2x, 2x, 5x and 10x, a total of 20x. A Sniper lands and, in this example, hits three of them: 2x, 5x and 10x become 4x, 10x and 20x, and the grid total rises to 37x. Next, a Collector with its own 5x value lands. It sums the grid, 37x, and adds its own 5x, so the Collector now shows 42x, worth 42.00. If that Collector is persistent, it collects again on every later spin, picking up any new values that land. That repeat collecting is how a round climbs from tens to thousands of times the stake.
Bonus buy and the RTP difference
Money Train 2 includes a Buy feature that takes you straight to the Money Cart round. The price is shown in the game, not on the provider's public page. The provider's configuration lists 98.00% RTP for the buy, compared with 96.40% for normal play, so the feature returns more on average per unit staked. That does not make it safer: every buy is a single high-variance round, and several poor rounds in a row can drain a bankroll quickly. Our bonus buy guide explains how to size such purchases.
What changed versus the original Money Train
Relax built the sequel around player and operator feedback on the first game, and the differences are easy to list:
- Base game. The original relied almost entirely on its bonus. Money Train 2 adds the two-symbol Respins feature with added multipliers, so the base game can deliver meaningful wins on its own.
- Maximum win. The ceiling rose from 20,000x to 50,000x the stake. Relax reported that sixteen players reached the 50,000x cap during the ten-day launch period, and more than 5,000 players won 1,000x or more.
- Grid growth. Filling a reel during the Money Cart round now unlocks an extra column, with up to two additional reels available.
- New characters. The Necromancer joins the crew and revives spent characters, which extends what a single round can achieve.
- Theme. The familiar outlaws return with a harder look in a steampunk, post-apocalyptic setting instead of the classic Western.
The core loop stays the same: land scatters, fill the Money Cart grid with values and characters, and let them interact. If you played the first game, the sequel will feel familiar within a few spins, just with a lot more upside.
Is it for you
Money Train 2 suits players who enjoy watching a bonus build step by step and are comfortable with long waits between Money Cart rounds. If you like collecting-style features but prefer something lighter, the fisherman collect in Big Bass Bonanza uses a simpler version of the same idea. For another feature-driven game built on multipliers, try Wanted Dead or a Wild.
- Budget for many spins between bonuses; the respins soften the base game but do not replace the Money Cart.
- Watch for persistent characters early in a round, since they shape the whole outcome.
- Keep stakes modest, as the 20 per spin maximum already makes buys expensive.
How to test it in the demo and read the rules
The free demo above runs the real game with play credits. Use it to trigger a few Money Cart rounds and learn how each character looks and when it fires. Then open the game rules and check the RTP of the build you are on (96.40% standard, 90% in the German version), the stake limits for your currency, the buy price and the paytable. Our guide to free demo slots covers what demo play can tell you and what it cannot.
