Before the details, a word on the rules at home. Real-money online gaming in the Philippines is overseen by PAGCOR, so stick to platforms that hold its licence, and remember the legal age is 21. The online gaming framework is still under review, which is one more reason to check the licence before you register. Our demo spins use play credits only.
Meet the game
BGaming launched Merge Up 2 on October 28, 2025, as the sequel to its first Merge Up. The idea comes from merge puzzles on your phone. A winning group does not simply vanish: part of it upgrades into the next symbol on the ladder. String enough wins together and the board climbs from soft pastel candies to the top tier, and from there to a rainbow bomb.
The board is 6x6 and pays by clusters, meaning four or more identical symbols touching up, down, left or right. BGaming rates the volatility as very high and limits one round to 10,000x the bet. Compared with the first game, the headline change is that cell multipliers and bombs now work in the base game, not only in the bonus.
One spin from start to finish
- Set your bet. The demo offers 0.25 to 25 credits; real peso limits come from your platform.
- Thirty-six symbols drop onto the board, and the game scans for groups of four or more matching neighbours.
- Each group pays. Some of its symbols then disappear while the others upgrade to the next level.
- Every cell that was part of a win gets a mark. A marked cell that wins again receives a x2 multiplier.
- Gaps fill from above in a tumble, and the board is checked again.
- Merging a level 8 cluster produces a bomb, which wipes the 8 symbols around it, raises each of those cells one multiplier step and then becomes a scatter.
- When no new group forms, the spin is over. In the base game every mark and multiplier resets.
Timing is important here. A multiplier you earn on a cell does not touch the win that produced it; it only counts from the next winning group that crosses that cell. When one group covers several boosted cells, their values are summed, not multiplied.
The eight levels and what they pay
There are eight paying levels, and the bar above the reels shows the order from bottom to top. Payout depends on the level and on how many symbols the group contains. We took these figures from the demo server; each is a multiple of your total bet, with a peso column for the biggest group size on a ₱20 bet.
| Level | 4 | 7 | 9 | 11 | 12+ | 12+ at ₱20 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level 8 | 0.80x | 2.40x | 8x | 16x | 80x | ₱1,600 |
| Level 7 | 0.64x | 1.60x | 6.40x | 12x | 32x | ₱640 |
| Level 6 | 0.48x | 1.20x | 4.80x | 8x | 24x | ₱480 |
| Level 5 | 0.40x | 0.80x | 4x | 6.40x | 20x | ₱400 |
| Level 4 | 0.32x | 0.64x | 3.20x | 4.80x | 16x | ₱320 |
| Level 3 | 0.24x | 0.48x | 2.40x | 4x | 12x | ₱240 |
| Level 2 | 0.16x | 0.40x | 1.60x | 3.20x | 8x | ₱160 |
| Level 1 | 0.08x | 0.32x | 0.80x | 2.40x | 4x | ₱80 |
Notice how little a four-symbol group returns: a level 1 cluster of four on a ₱20 bet pays ₱1.60. Small groups matter for what they leave on the board, upgraded symbols and marked cells, more than for the payout itself. Also watch the step between 8 and 9 symbols, where level 1 jumps from 0.40x to 0.80x.
How cell multipliers grow
Cell boosts drive the whole game, and they behave much like the marked spots in Sugar Rush. A cell in a winning group gets a mark. Its next win turns the mark into x2, and every win after that doubles it again, through x4, x8, x16, x32 and x64 up to the per-cell limit of x128. Sampling on the demo server matched that doubling ladder exactly.
Because values in one group are added, a cluster that sits on cells of x2, x4 and x8 pays at x14. Bombs push this faster, since every cell a bomb clears moves up a step even if it was not part of a win. Our multipliers guide covers why summed and multiplied boosts behave so differently.
Rainbow bombs and scatters
The only route to a bomb is a winning group of level 8 symbols. The blast removes the 8 surrounding symbols, new ones fall in, and each cell in that ring climbs one step, so x4 becomes x8. After exploding, the bomb stays on the board as a scatter.
So scatters come from two sources: some land on their own, and every bomb adds one. They are counted when the spin ends. The scale: 12 free spins for three scatters, 15 for four, 20 for five and 30 for six or more.
Free spins with a peso walkthrough
During free spins the rules stay the same with one major change: marks and multipliers are kept until the round is over instead of clearing after each spin. Three or more scatters on a single free spin add 5 extra spins.
Picture a ₱20 bet in the middle of a round. Earlier wins have left one cell at x8 and the cell beside it at x4. A level 6 group of six symbols covers both. Its base value is 0.80x, or ₱16. The two boosts sum to x12, so this group pays ₱192. Both cells then double, to x16 and x8. Should another six-symbol level 6 group pass over them later, it pays ₱16 times x24, which is ₱384, with no bomb involved. A bomb landing next to those cells would raise those two cells to x32 and x16 ahead of the next group. Over 12 to 30 spins, that kind of compounding is how the 10,000x ceiling, ₱200,000 on a ₱20 bet, becomes possible.
Bonus buys and Chance x2
If your platform allows bonus buys, Merge Up 2 offers three. Prices are from the demo server; the peso column assumes a ₱20 bet.
| Option | Price | At ₱20 | What it gives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bonus game 1 | 100x | ₱2,000 | A regular free spins round |
| Bonus game 2 | 250x | ₱5,000 | Free spins with every cell starting at x2 |
| Bonus game 3 | 500x | ₱10,000 | 3 to 9 bombs go off before the first spin, and their boosts remain |
Option 2 gives all 36 cells a x2 head start, so the very first wins are boosted. Option 3 carries the most risk, because both the number of bombs and where their boosts land are random.
Chance x2 works as the game's ante-style setting. It adds 20 percent to the stake, so ₱20 becomes ₱24 per spin, and improves the odds of triggering the bonus. You cannot run it together with a buy. In the demo build all modes return 98%, so the setting changes how your session swings, not the long-run rate.
Return, volatility and top prize
BGaming's game page states a 97% return, yet in the demo build we tested, regular spins, every buy and Chance x2 all sit at 98%. More than one RTP version clearly exists, so trust only the number in the rules screen of the platform you use. On ₱10,000 wagered over time, the gap between 97% and 98% is about ₱100.
The provider calls the volatility very high and quotes a hit rate of 3.40, roughly one paying spin in every three and a half. The 10,000x maximum is listed in the demo math with odds of 1 in 10,000,000. That makes it a ceiling to know about, not a goal.
Where it sits among similar games
Want marked cells without the upgrade ladder? Sugar Rush is the nearest relative, with spots that stay for the whole bonus. For another BGaming cluster title where multipliers ride on winning symbols rather than on cells, try Fiesta Clusters. What sets Merge Up 2 apart is the ladder itself: even a tiny win reshapes the board and nudges the next group toward a higher level.
Practising before you use pesos
The free demo above lets you learn the rhythm at no cost, and our demo guide has the basics. Useful things to check:
- Open the rules and read the RTP line. Anything under 97% means a different build from the one described here.
- During long chains, watch the level bar and note how rarely level 8 and bombs actually show up.
- Play 100 spins with Chance x2 off, then 100 with it on, and compare how your balance moves.
- Plan for a bankroll of 100 to 200 bets, so ₱2,000 to ₱4,000 at ₱20. With very high volatility, less than that can run out before a single bonus appears.
Where Merge Up 2 can be played for real pesos
Questions Filipino players ask
What RTP does Merge Up 2 have?
The provider page shows 97%. In the demo build, normal spins, all three buys and Chance x2 return 98%. Platforms may install a different version, so the RTP line in the game rules is the figure that applies to you.
How many free spins does Merge Up 2 give?
You get 12 free spins for three scatters, 15 for four, 20 for five and 30 for six or more. Three or more scatters on one free spin add 5 spins, and every mark and multiplier stays in place until the round ends.
How do cell multipliers work in Merge Up 2?
A winning cell is marked first. The next win through it gives x2, and each later win doubles the value up to x128. Several boosts inside one group are added together, and a newly earned value only counts from the next win.
How much do the bonus buys cost in pesos?
On a ₱20 bet the standard round costs ₱2,000 (100x), the round with x2 in every cell ₱5,000 (250x), and the round with 3 to 9 opening bombs ₱10,000 (500x). Whether buys appear depends on your platform.
How much can Merge Up 2 pay at most?
10,000 times the bet, which is ₱200,000 on a ₱20 spin. The demo math lists odds of 1 in 10,000,000. Think of it as the upper limit rather than something to chase.
What does Chance x2 do?
It raises your stake by 20 percent, so a ₱20 spin costs ₱24, and makes the bonus trigger more often. You cannot use it alongside a bonus buy, and in the demo build its return matches normal play at 98%.
Is real-money Merge Up 2 allowed in the Philippines?
Online real-money gaming is regulated by PAGCOR. Play only on a PAGCOR-licensed platform and only if you are 21 or above. Since the online framework is being reviewed, confirm the licence first. The demo costs nothing.
