What Power of Gods: Hades is

Wazdan released Power of Gods: Hades on 8 September 2021 as the third game in its Power of Gods series, after Power of Gods: Egypt and Power of Gods: The Pantheon. The setting is the Greek underworld. Hades himself is the Wild, and the rest of the reels are filled with Cerberus, Charon the ferryman, bidents, the helmet of invisibility, keys to the underworld, blue and yellow fireballs and the four card royals A, K, Q and J.

The grid has 5 reels and 3 rows and pays on 243 ways. Wazdan lists the RTP at 96.14%, the volatility as high and the maximum win at 5,000x your bet. According to Wazdan it was the eighth of its games built on the Hold the Jackpot respin mechanic, and the first where you could choose the volatility of a bought bonus round.

How a spin works step by step

1. Set your stake. The bet selector is on the main screen. The minimum and maximum depend on the operator and currency, so check the rules screen for your limits.
2. Fifteen symbols land. Five reels of three rows fill the screen.
3. Ways are counted. The game uses 243 ways: a matching symbol on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel wins, in any row. Every combination of positions counts as its own way, so two matching symbols on reel 2 double the number of winning ways.
4. Hades substitutes. The Wild replaces every symbol except Bonus symbols.
5. Winners cascade. With cascading reels, winning symbols are removed and new ones fall into their place. If a new win forms, it pays and the process repeats. The spin ends when a cascade produces nothing new.
6. Bonus symbols stick. Any Bonus symbol that lands locks in place for 5 re-spins, as described below.
7. Six Bonus symbols trigger Hold the Jackpot. Once six or more are on screen, the respin round starts.

Wazdan publishes the symbol set but not the payout values outside the game. Here is what you will see on the reels:

Sticky Bonus symbols in the base game

This is the feature that separates Hades from a plain hold and win slot. When a Bonus symbol lands, it does not disappear on the next spin. It sticks to the reels for 5 re-spins, with a small counter on the symbol showing how many remain. Any new Bonus symbol that arrives while others are still stuck adds to the total on screen.

Six Bonus symbols take you across the Styx into the respin round. The board becomes 15 positions and you get three respins. Every time a new Bonus symbol lands, the counter resets to three. The round ends when you run out of respins or fill the board.

Five types of Bonus symbol can appear:

• Fire carries a cash prize from 1x to 10x, 12x or 15x your bet.
• Blue Fire gathers the values of the Fire and Blue Fire symbols on the board.
• Jackpot awards the Mini, Minor or Major jackpot.
• Mystery turns into a Fire, Blue Fire or Jackpot symbol.
• Hades Mystery can only turn into a Mini, Minor or Major Jackpot symbol, so it always means a jackpot.

Fill all 15 positions and you win the Grand Jackpot of 3,000x your bet. You also keep everything else on the board, because all prizes are added together when the round ends, up to the 5,000x maximum.

A worked example of the respin round

Say you play at a stake of 1.00 and trigger the round with six Fire symbols showing 2x, 3x, 5x, 1x, 10x and 4x. That board is worth 25x, or 25.00, before a single respin.

First respin: a Fire worth 12x lands. The counter resets to three and the board is now worth 37.00. Second respin: a Hades Mystery lands and turns into a Major Jackpot symbol, adding the Major to your total. Third respin: a Blue Fire lands. It takes on the combined value of the Fire symbols already in place, which is 37x, so the board value climbs again. Two blanks and a final blank end the round, and everything is paid at once: the Fire prizes, the Blue Fire value and the Major.

Now the dream scenario. If those respins had kept coming until every one of the 15 positions was covered, the Grand adds 3,000.00 on top of the board. With 37.00 in Fire values already collected, the total would pass 3,037.00, and the whole round can never pay more than 5,000x, which at this stake is 5,000.00.

Buy Feature and Volatility Levels

If you do not want to wait for six Bonus symbols, the Buy Feature takes you straight into Hold the Jackpot. Wazdan does not publish the price on its game page, so the cost multiple is shown in the game itself next to your stake. Where the feature is offered, Hades was the first Wazdan game where you choose the Volatility Level of the bought round before paying for it.

Separately, Volatility Levels let you adjust the volatility of the whole game. The listed high volatility is the default profile.
