What Spaceman is
Pragmatic Play launched Spaceman on 24 March 2022 as its first crash-style game. The studio calls it a social, multiplayer RNG title built around real-time decisions. The setting is outer space: the main character takes flight on an ever steeper curve, whizzing past planets while a win multiplier rises on screen. At some point he comes to a stop, and the round is over.
Your job is to cash out before that happens. Press the button in time and the current multiplier is applied to your bet. Wait too long and the stake is lost. What sets Spaceman apart from the rest of the genre is the 50% cashout, a way to bank half of your position mid-flight and let the other half keep going.
Pragmatic lists a return to player of 95% on the game page and a maximum win of 5,000 times the bet in its launch announcement. The launch release also highlights leaderboards, live chat, detailed bet records and provably fair mechanics.
How a Spaceman round works
- Place your bet. Before the round starts, you set your stake. Your casino defines the minimum and maximum.
- Lift-off. Spaceman takes flight and the multiplier starts climbing on screen.
- Decide. You can cash out the full bet, cash out half of it with the 50% option, or keep waiting.

The last row shows the ceiling: 5,000x is the maximum win Pragmatic states, so even a tiny stake has a defined top prize. A 2.00 stake cashed at 1.85x returns 3.70 and a profit of 1.70, while a stop at 1.84x or earlier leaves you with nothing from that bet.
The 50% cashout explained with numbers
The half cashout splits your bet in two at the moment you use it. Half of the stake is settled at the current multiplier and paid to your balance. The other half stays in the air and is settled later by a normal cashout, or lost if Spaceman stops first.
Take a 2.00 bet. At 1.50x you use the 50% cashout: 1.00 of stake times 1.50 pays 1.50. The remaining 1.00 keeps flying.
- Spaceman stops at 2.20x before you act again: you keep the 1.50 already banked. Result: 1.50 back on 2.00, a loss of 0.50.
- You cash the rest at 3.00x: 1.00 times 3.00 pays 3.00. Total 4.50 back on 2.00, a profit of 2.50.
- You hold on to 10.00x: the second half pays 10.00. Total 11.50 back, a profit of 9.50.
Compare that with doing nothing at 1.50x. A full cashout would have paid 3.00, while holding the entire bet for 3.00x would have paid 6.00 or nothing. The half cashout sits between those outcomes. It reduces the swing of each round, but both halves are still ordinary bets with the same expected return.
Auto-cashout and 50% auto-cashout
Spaceman lets you set custom limits for both tools, so the game can act at your chosen multipliers without a click. A typical setup uses the 50% auto-cashout as a safety net and the full auto-cashout as the target for the remainder, for example half at 1.50x and the rest at 4.00x.
With a 2.00 stake and that setup, a round that reaches 4.00x pays 1.50 plus 4.00, so 5.50 in total. A round that stops at 2.60x pays only the banked 1.50. A round that stops at 1.30x pays nothing. Automation is worth using for one simple reason: it removes hesitation. Many losses in crash games come from waiting a fraction longer than planned.
RTP, the house edge and the 5,000x cap
The provider page lists Spaceman at 95% RTP. That means that over a very large number of rounds, about 95 units come back for every 100 wagered, and 5 units are the house edge. For comparison, Spribe lists 97% for its crash game, so the edge in Spaceman is larger. Over 1,000 bets of 1.00, the expected cost is about 50.00 at 95% and about 30.00 at 97%, before variance.
In a crash game the RTP applies to your cashout choices as a whole. Whether you bank early, use the half cashout or wait for a big multiplier, you are reshaping how results arrive, not changing the average. Pragmatic does not publish a volatility rating, but in practice your targets set it: low targets bring frequent small returns, high targets bring long runs without a cashout.
The 5,000x maximum win is the highest multiple of the stake any single bet can return. Casinos also set their own limits, so check the rules panel in your version.
Bankroll and why martingale does not work
The fast rhythm of Spaceman pulls many players toward doubling systems. At a 2.00x target, starting at 1.00 and doubling after each loss, five losses cost 31.00 and the next bet must be 32.00 to finish a single unit ahead. A streak like that is rare in any hour but inevitable over many sessions, and table limits or your balance end the chain before it pays off.
More importantly, every bet in the sequence carries the same 5% edge. The expected loss is the edge times the total wagered, and a progression only raises the total wagered. A better plan is to set a session budget, use flat stakes that are a small fraction of it, and stop when the budget or your time limit runs out.
Social features and statistics

These panels are fun to watch, but they are not a forecast. Each round is set by the RNG, and Pragmatic describes the mechanics as provably fair. A run of low stops does not make a big one more likely next time.
