What True Grit Redemption is

Nolimit City released True Grit Redemption on December 21, 2021, closing a busy year for the studio. The setting is a frozen Western mission for revenge, and the provider's own game sheet rates the volatility as Extreme, 10 on its scale. The default RTP is 96.11%, split into 62.46% from the base game and 33.65% from free spins. An alternative 94.04% build also exists, identified as TrueGritDX1.

The rest of the math sheet is unusually complete. Across 10 billion simulated spins, 24.36% of spins produced a win, free spins arrived about once every 214 spins, and a win of 100x or more came about once in 1,474 spins. The 20,220x cap, named No More Grit to be Found, is estimated at around one in 6 million rounds. Stakes run from 0.20 to 100 per spin, with a default of 1.00.

The grid: top reel, main reel and bottom reel

The game is a 6-reel, 5-row slot, but not every position works the same way. Think of it as three zones:

• Top reel. A short row with three positions that only hold Character symbols and Wilds.
• Main reel. The central area where regular symbols, Wilds, Scatters and the Grit Girl land. Some of its positions start locked and open diagonally as Scatters appear: the first Scatter opens four positions, the second opens three, the third opens two and the fourth opens the last one.
• Bottom reel. Four locked positions that hold Character symbols and the special modifiers. The right-most bottom position always holds a locked sticky Wild with a multiplier.

By default the game has 240 win ways, and matching symbols pay from left to right on adjacent reels. xWays, Infectious xWays and Reel Split add ways on the spin they appear.

How a spin works, step by step

1. You set your bet and spin. All three zones fill with symbols.
2. If a symbol in the top reel matches the symbol directly beneath it on the same reel, both turn into Wilds.
3. Special symbols in the bottom reel activate and change the main reel: nudging Wilds, revealing stacks, splitting symbols or transforming them.
4. Wins are paid across the ways. Winning symbols disappear and new ones drop in, a cascade the rules call an avalanche.
5. Cascades continue until no new win forms. Transformed bottom reel symbols that were not part of a win revert to their original symbols in the next cascade.

Wilds substitute for every symbol except the Scatter and the Grit Girl, and always complete the highest possible winning combination.

The bottom reel modifiers

xNudge Wild

A stacked Wild that always nudges upward until it is fully visible on the main reel. Each nudge adds +1 to the Wild multiplier, and nudging over another Wild adds a further +1. If the xNudge Wild is not part of a win, it folds back down and nudges up again on the next cascade with a higher multiplier. Several Wild multipliers on one win are added together.

xWays and Infectious xWays

An xWays symbol reveals two or three of the same regular symbol, increasing the number of ways. Infectious xWays appear only in the bottom reel and reveal two symbols; the revealed symbol then infects every matching symbol on the main reel, expanding each to the same size. Multiple Infectious xWays in one avalanche can infect a symbol only once.

Reel Split

Reel Split doubles every symbol above it on the main reel, then vanishes and causes the bottom reel to collapse to the left. Each reel can split a maximum of two times. Reel Split never splits the Grit Girl; it doubles her payout multiplier instead.

Transform 'em

Transforms every symbol of the same type, except those in the top reel, into one symbol. All Character symbols become the same Character, or all low symbols (A, K, Q, J and 10) become the same low symbol, which can turn a scattered screen into a wide win.

Grit Girl pays and a worked example

The Grit Girl can land only on reels 1 to 4 of the main reel. She does not pay along ways; she pays as soon as she appears on three or more reels. Three reels give a base payout of x25 and four reels give x500. Any Grit Girl win is multiplied by the current value of the sticky Wild in the bottom right corner, even while that Wild is still locked.

Here is how the numbers stack at a 1.00 bet. Grit Girl lands on three reels for a base x25. The sticky Wild currently shows a x3 multiplier, so the win becomes x75. If a Reel Split also hits one of her reels, her payout multiplier doubles, and the same hit is worth x150, or 150.00. Land her on four reels with the same x3 and the base x500 becomes x1,500, or 1,500.00, before any doubling.

Torture Spins and Dead Spins

Scatters land only on reels 1 to 4. Three of them trigger 8 or more Torture Spins, and four trigger 10 or more Dead Spins. Any Scatter hit by a Reel Split in the same avalanche awards +1 spin for each extra split part.

• Torture Spins. The active area grows and all previously locked main reel positions stay open for the whole feature. The sticky multiplier Wild in the bottom right corner remains locked, but it still multiplies Grit Girl wins.
• Dead Spins. Every locked position opens, including the sticky Wild in the bottom right corner. Its multiplier increases by +1 on every cascade, and it stays in place for the round.

Landing a fourth Scatter during Torture Spins upgrades the round to Dead Spins and adds +2 spins, plus +1 for each extra split part of that Scatter. In Dead Spins the growing sticky Wild is the engine: a long cascade chain early in the round raises the multiplier that every later win and every Grit Girl hit can use. These free spins are where the 20,220x cap becomes possible.

A simple Dead Spins sequence at a 1.00 bet shows the effect. Say the sticky Wild starts the round at x2. On the first spin, three cascades in a row push it to x5. On a later spin an xNudge Wild nudges its way up to x4, and both Wilds sit in the same win, so their multipliers add together. If that win is worth 4x the bet before multipliers and the combined Wild multiplier is x9, it pays 36.00. Because the sticky Wild never resets during the round, every cascade you collect early makes the later spins more valuable.

Feature buy options

Where the operator allows it, the Nolimit Bonus menu lets you buy straight into a feature. The in-game rules list three options: Torture Spins, Dead Spins and a Lucky Draw. Nolimit City states that prices range from 69x to 669x the base bet, and the exact cost of each option is shown in the buy menu. The feature may be removed in some regulated markets.

A bonus buy does not change the odds inside a round; it only skips the average 214-spin wait. At a 1.00 stake, the cheapest option costs 69.00 and the most expensive 669.00, so one bought round can equal a long base game session.
