What Fruit Shop Grand Re-Opening is
NetEnt opened Fruit Shop Grand Re-Opening to early access on 25 June 2026 and released it widely on 2 July 2026. It is a new game in the Fruit Shop series, which started with the 2011 original and its 2015 seasonal twin, Fruit Shop Christmas Edition. The striped awnings and cheeky cherries are back, but the engine underneath is very different.
NetEnt lists 96.37% RTP, a 21.93% hit frequency and a maximum payout of 5,000 times the bet. The grid starts at 5x3 and can grow to 5x6, and the number of paylines grows with it, from 13 to 34. Bets run from 0.20 to 100 per spin, and a feature buy is available.
How a spin works, step by step
- Set the bet between 0.20 and 100, or pick one of the Elevate options described below.
- Spin. The reels stop on a 5x3 grid. Wild symbols can appear on reels 2 to 5.
- Line wins. Winning combinations pay according to the paytable.
- Fruit wins award Re-Spins. Any win with fruit symbols gives extra spins: two or three Cherries give +1, four give +2, five give +5; three, four or five of another fruit give +1, +2 or +5.
- Re-Spins run the Flavor Meter. The meter is visible at all times but only active in Re-Spins and Bonus Spins.
- Bonus check. Three, four or five Fruit Bonus symbols anywhere start one of the three Bonus Spins modes.
The Flavor Meter
The meter is the heart of the game. It has 36 steps, and every winning combination pushes it forward: two or three Cherries move it one step, four move it two, five move it five; three, four or five of other symbols move it one, two or five steps. After step 36 it can keep going until the maximum win is reached. It resets at the end of every Re-Spins or Bonus Spins sequence.
Every fourth step (4, 8, 12 and so on) holds a multiplier. In Re-Spins the ladder runs x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x8, x10, x12 and x14. In Bonus Spins it runs x4, x6, x10, x15, x18, x25, x30, x50 and x75, and each new multiplier also awards one extra Bonus Spin. Past the top value, each further multiplier rises by x2 in Backyard Spins, x3 in Garden Spins and x5 in Orchard Spins.
One timing rule matters: bonuses and multipliers collected on the meter apply to the following spin, except the Jumper Wild and the Mystery Drop, which count on the current spin.
Flavor Meter bonuses
Between the multipliers, the conveyor holds five kinds of bonus:
- Extra Row adds a row at the bottom until Bonus Spins end: up to three times in Backyard Spins, two in Garden Spins and once in Orchard Spins.
- Sticky Wild drops a wild on a free position on reels 2 to 5 that stays until Bonus Spins end.
- Mystery Drop pays a random x4, x6, x8, x10, x12, x15, x20, x30 or x40 cash prize, boosted by active multipliers.
- Activated Fruit puts an x2 multiplier on wins with one specific fruit, once per fruit.
- Upgrade turns the low symbol 10 into the Cherry, once.
The three Bonus Spins modes
| Fruit Bonus symbols | Mode | Spins | Starting grid | Extra Rows possible |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | Backyard Spins | 5 | 5x3 | 3 |
| 4 | Garden Spins | 8 | 5x4 | 2 |
| 5 | Orchard Spins | 10 | 5x5 | 1 |
In every mode the grid can end at six rows. Fruit wins during free spins keep adding Bonus Spins on the same scale as Re-Spins, and three Fruit Bonus symbols add three more. If Bonus Spins start during Re-Spins, any Re-Spins left over turn into extra Bonus Spins and extra steps on the meter. In Bonus Spins a Jumper Wild worth 5, 7, 10 or 15 jumps can land on reels 2 to 5, at most once per spin; when it is part of a win, the meter advances by that many extra steps.
Worked example: Backyard Spins at 1.00
- Trigger. Three Fruit Bonus symbols land: 5 Backyard Spins on a 5x3 grid.
- Spin 1. Five Cherries pay and add +5 Bonus Spins and +5 steps. The meter passes step 4, so x4 is set for the next spin and you get one more spin.
- Spin 2. Three of a kind of a non-fruit symbol win together with a 5-jump Jumper Wild. That is one step for the win plus five for the Jumper, so the meter moves from step 6 to step 12. It passes the x6 step at 8 and lands on the x10 step at 12, and each new multiplier adds one more spin.
- Spin 3. The x10 collected on the previous spin now applies. A line win worth 2.00 before multipliers pays 2.00 x 10 = 20.00, and if it contains fruit it also adds spins and steps.
The example uses illustrative line values, since NetEnt does not publish the paytable on its site, but the mechanics are exact: meter steps come from wins, multipliers apply on the next spin, and every multiplier reached is one more spin. Long chains are how the 5,000x cap comes within reach.
Elevate options and what they cost
Instead of a single bonus buy, NetEnt offers five Elevate features:
| Option | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus Hunt | 2x bet | At least one Fruit Bonus symbol on every main game spin |
| Fruit Win | 10x bet | A guaranteed fruit winning combination, which starts Re-Spins |
| Backyard Spins | 70x bet | At least three Fruit Bonus symbols |
| Garden Spins | 100x bet | At least four Fruit Bonus symbols |
| Orchard Spins | 150x bet | Five Fruit Bonus symbols |
Bonus Hunt works like an ante bet: you pay double per spin for better trigger odds. The 70x, 100x and 150x buys trade a fixed cost for a guaranteed mode. The buys compress a lot of variance into one decision: a 70x Backyard round can return far more or far less than its price, so size it like 70 normal spins, not like one.
Wilds, Sticky Wilds and the Jumper Wild
There are three wild types, and each follows its own rules. The regular Wild lands on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the main game, Re-Spins and Bonus Spins. It substitutes for all symbols except Fruit Bonus symbols, the Sticky Wild and the Jumper Wild, and a substitution always pays the highest possible combination on that line.
The Sticky Wild only comes from the Flavor Meter during Bonus Spins. It takes a free position on reels 2 to 5 and stays there until the round ends, so a Sticky Wild collected early helps every remaining spin. The Jumper Wild appears only in Bonus Spins, once per spin at most, and substitutes for everything except Fruit Bonus symbols and Sticky Wilds. Its value of 5, 7, 10 or 15 jumps is what makes it special: it moves the meter on the spin it lands, not the next one.
What changed versus the original Fruit Shop
The 2011 original is a 5x3 game with 15 lines, 96.71% RTP and an 800x cap. Its free spins come from any fruit win and pay double, with a x4 boost when a wild is involved. Grand Re-Opening keeps the idea of fruit wins earning spins, but swaps the fixed x2 for a meter that climbs to x75, adds three bonus modes and growing reels, and lifts the cap to 5,000x. The price is a lower hit frequency, 21.93% against 27%.
How to test it and what to check
Play it in a free demo at a casino first (see our demo guide). Watch how often fruit wins chain into Re-Spins, how far the meter travels in a typical sequence and how many spins a Backyard round lasts. In the help screen, confirm the RTP of that version and the bet limits, and check whether every Elevate option is offered in your market.
For bankroll planning, remember that a 21.93% hit frequency means roughly four spins in five lose outright. Most of the value sits in Re-Spins chains and Bonus Spins, so give yourself enough spins at a modest stake rather than a handful at a high one, and set a loss limit before you start.
