A sky castle on a familiar engine
Pragmatic Play launched Starlight Princess on 23 September 2021 and billed it as its first anime inspired slot. The Princess hovers beside a castle in the clouds, waving a wand and throwing winged orbs onto the reels. The art is bright and sugary, but the engine is serious: six columns, five rows, scatter pays from anywhere, tumbling wins and multipliers that are summed, not chained.
If you have played Gates of Olympus, you already know most of the rules. The grid, the eight symbol minimum, the 96.50% RTP, the 5,000x ceiling and the 100x buy all match. What differs is the look, the sound and the symbol art, so the choice between the two is mainly about which world you would rather stare at for an evening.
Playing it from Ghana
The Gaming Commission of Ghana licenses casinos, sports betting and online operators under the Gaming Act 2006 (Act 721). You need to be 18 or older, and a licensed site will check your Ghana Card before it releases a withdrawal. Plenty of operators accept MoMo, so topping up can be as quick as buying a data bundle. Our Ghana casino guide covers how to compare them. All cedi figures on this page are examples built on the official multipliers.
What happens on each spin
- You set a stake. A normal spin uses 20 coins, meaning the coin value times twenty equals what you pay. Switching on Ante Bet makes it 25 coins.
- Thirty symbols fill the grid. Six reels of five rows each.
- Matches are counted. Any eight or more copies of one symbol, anywhere on the grid, form a win. Rows, lines and neighbours play no part.
- Winners vanish. Paid symbols disappear, the rest drop down and fresh ones fall in from above. This tumble repeats while new wins keep forming.
- Orbs wait. Any multiplier orb that lands during the sequence stays on the grid until the tumbling ends.
- Payment. All wins in the sequence are totalled, the orb values on screen are added together and that sum multiplies the total.
A multiplier that lands on a spin with no win is worthless. Big base game hits therefore need both ingredients in the same sequence: a paying tumble and at least one orb.
Symbol payouts in three bands
Nine regular symbols pay, and the Princess acts as scatter. Pragmatic does not publish symbol names, so the table ranks them from best to weakest. Values are multiples of your total bet; the final column shows the 12 or more band at a GH₵2 stake.
| Rank | 8 or 9 symbols | 10 or 11 symbols | 12 or more | 12+ at GH₵2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 (top) | 10x | 25x | 50x | GH₵100 |
| 2 | 2.5x | 10x | 25x | GH₵50 |
| 3 | 2x | 5x | 15x | GH₵30 |
| 4 | 1.5x | 2x | 12x | GH₵24 |
| 5 | 1x | 1.5x | 10x | GH₵20 |
| 6 | 0.8x | 1.2x | 8x | GH₵16 |
| 7 | 0.5x | 1x | 5x | GH₵10 |
| 8 | 0.4x | 0.9x | 4x | GH₵8 |
| 9 (lowest) | 0.25x | 0.75x | 2x | GH₵4 |
Notice how sharply the top band jumps. Rank 5 pays 1.5x for eleven copies but 10x for twelve, so one more symbol dropping in a tumble can change a hit completely. The scatter has its own prizes on top of the bonus trigger: four pay 3x, five pay 5x and six or more pay 100x. At GH₵2, six scatters are worth GH₵200 before a single free spin is played.
How the winged multipliers behave
Orbs arrive in green, blue, pink and orange, in the base game and in the bonus alike, carrying a random value from x2 to x500. Our multipliers guide compares this type with others; the short version for this game:
- Orbs stay put while the tumbling continues and only count once it stops.
- Their values are summed. A x3 and a x7 give x10, not x21.
- That sum applies to the full sequence win, not to one symbol group.
- In the base game nothing is carried forward; the next spin starts clean.
Worked example at GH₵2: the first drop shows ten of the rank 2 symbol, worth 10x or GH₵20. The tumble then lands eight of the rank 6 symbol for 0.8x, which adds GH₵1.60. During the chain a x3 and a x7 orb appear. The sequence is worth GH₵21.60, the orbs add to x10, and the spin pays GH₵216.
Free spins and the growing total
Four or more scatters anywhere start 15 free spins. Here orbs stop resetting. Every orb landing in a paying tumble sequence joins a round total, and that freshly updated total multiplies the sequence it arrived in. The total cannot fall until the bonus ends. One verified detail is easy to miss: the total only multiplies a sequence in which a new orb lands. A winning sequence without a fresh orb is paid at its plain value.
Worked example at a GH₵1 stake:
- Spin 3: a sequence pays GH₵3 and a x10 orb lands. The total becomes x10 and the sequence pays GH₵30.
- Spin 6: a sequence pays GH₵2 with no orb. It is paid as GH₵2, and the total stays at x10.
- Spin 9: a sequence pays GH₵5 with a x2 and a x15. The total rises to x27, so the payout is GH₵135.
- Spin 14: a sequence pays GH₵1.50 and a x100 lands. The total reaches x127 and the payout is GH₵190.50.
The round returns GH₵357.50 from GH₵11.50 of raw wins. The lesson is that early orbs are the valuable ones, because they raise the total for every later sequence that brings a fresh orb. A round where the big orbs only show up on the final spins usually pays far less.
Ante Bet and the 100x buy
The Ante Bet adds 25% to each spin, from 20 to 25 coins, and in exchange doubles your chance of landing the free spins. A GH₵2 base stake becomes GH₵2.50 per spin while it is on, which shortens your session by a fifth for the same budget.
The bonus buy costs 100x and starts the 15 free spins at once, where the operator offers it. At GH₵1 that is GH₵100; at GH₵2 it is GH₵200. Pragmatic's server lists 96.50% for regular play, Ante Bet and the buy, so none of them is a worse deal on paper. The buy just compresses the swings: one purchase can return a fraction of its price or many times it.
Your top prize is capped at 5,000x the base bet, or GH₵5,000 at a GH₵1 stake. Switch Ante Bet on and the rules quote 4,000x of the bigger stake instead; in cedis nothing changes.
Volatility and what to expect
Pragmatic describes the game as highly volatile. In practice that means wins arrive less often but can land hard; our volatility guide explains how that affects session length. Many sessions will end without a standout hit, and that is normal here. Before real play, confirm the RTP figure shown in the rules of whichever version your casino loads.
Later editions and a demo plan
Two follow ups exist. Starlight Princess 1000 arrived on 26 October 2023 with multipliers from x2 up to x1,000 on the same 6x5 frame. On 30 October 2025 came Starlight Princess Super Scatter, keeping orbs up to x500 but adding Super Scatters that pay an instant 100x, 500x, 5,000x or 50,000x when one to four of them help trigger the bonus. The original is the gentlest of the three and the best place to learn the running total.
Before staking cedis, use the free demo (see our demo guide):
- Play 200 spins at one stake and count how many paying sequences actually carry an orb.
- Repeat that with Ante Bet switched on and see whether free spins arrive more often.
- Try a few demo buys to see how far results stray from the 100x price.
- Look over the rules page: RTP, cedi bet limits and how the cap is worded.
Pick a stake small enough to last a few hundred spins, roughly the length of a long trotro ride to Kumasi, and set a stop point before you begin.

Questions from players in Ghana
Can I play Starlight Princess in Ghana?
Availability depends on the casino. In Ghana, online operators are licensed by the Gaming Commission under Act 721, players must be 18 or older and licensed sites verify you with the Ghana Card before withdrawals.
What is the Starlight Princess RTP?
Pragmatic lists 96.50% for regular spins, for Ante Bet spins and for the bought bonus. Casinos can choose other builds, so confirm the figure printed in the rules of the game you open.
How many scatters trigger free spins?
Four or more Princess scatters anywhere on the grid start 15 free spins. Scatters pay by themselves as well, at your total bet times 3 for four, 5 for five and 100 for six or more.
Does the free spins multiplier apply to every win?
No. Each orb that lands in a winning sequence joins a total that keeps growing. The total multiplies a sequence only when a new orb lands in it. A winning sequence without a fresh orb pays its plain value.
What is the maximum win in cedis?
The cap is 5,000x your base bet, so GH₵5,000 at a GH₵1 stake or GH₵10,000 at GH₵2. With Ante Bet on, the rules call it 4,000x of the raised stake, the same cash amount.
How much does the bonus buy cost?
Where your operator offers it, 100x your bet takes you directly into the 15 free spins. That is GH₵100 at a GH₵1 stake. Its listed RTP is the same 96.50% as regular play.
Is Starlight Princess the same as Gates of Olympus?
Under the hood they are near twins, sharing the grid size, the eight symbol rule, tumbles, summed orbs, the RTP, the cap and the buy price. The real difference is the theme: an anime cloud castle instead of Mount Olympus.
