What Sweet Burst is
Sweet Burst is a Pragmatic Play video slot published in January 2026. Gummy strawberries, raspberries, kiwis and oranges fill a grid that is only three reels wide and five rows tall, fifteen positions in total. That is half the size of the 6x5 grid in Sweet Bonanza, and the game adjusts for it: you need just five matching symbols for a win instead of eight.
The engine is the one Pragmatic fans know well. Symbols pay anywhere, winners disappear, new candy drops in, and the bonus round brings multiplier symbols that stay on screen until the tumbling stops. The difference is scale. With fifteen spots, a single multiplier symbol takes up a much bigger share of the screen, and a full chain can clear the grid in a few drops.
The demo server lists an RTP of 96.52%, the in-game rules rate volatility as high, and the maximum win is 5,000x your bet.
How a spin works step by step
- Choose the stake. The base bet is ten coins. In the build we loaded, coin values run from 0.01 to 25, so the total bet goes from 0.10 to 250.
- Fifteen symbols land. Three columns of five rows fill the screen.
- The game counts each symbol. Sweet Burst uses scatter pays: five or more copies of one symbol anywhere on the grid form a win. Where they sit does not matter.
- Winners pay and vanish. Everything else falls to the bottom, and new symbols drop in from above.
- The tumble repeats. As long as new wins appear, the process continues with no limit on the number of tumbles.
- The chain ends. All wins from the sequence are added to your balance together.
Our tumble guide explains cascades in more detail. On a grid this small, one big removal can reshape almost the whole screen, so chains tend to either fizzle at once or roll on for several steps.
Symbols and paytable
Six regular symbols pay, plus the scatter. The game server lists the values below as multiples of your total bet, grouped by count. The data does not tie each value to a piece of artwork, so the table ranks symbols from highest to lowest; the in-game paytable shows the candy beside each row.
| Symbol rank | 5 to 6 | 7 to 8 | 9 to 15 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 (top) | 8x | 25x | 50x |
| 2 | 2x | 10x | 25x |
| 3 | 1x | 4x | 10x |
| 4 | 0.6x | 1.2x | 6x |
| 5 | 0.5x | 1x | 5x |
| 6 (lowest) | 0.4x | 0.8x | 4x |
Two things stand out. The top symbol already pays 8x at five copies, which is generous for a tumble slot. And the jump from the 7 to 8 band to the 9 plus band is steep, so a cascade that adds two or three extra copies of the same candy is worth chasing. The lower three ranks return less than the stake at five copies, which is why the base game often feels like small change between bonuses.
Free spins
Three or more scatters anywhere on the screen award 10 free spins. The scatter can appear on every reel. During the round:
- Two scatters add 5 more free spins.
- Three or more scatters add 10 more free spins.
- Special reels are used, and the multiplier symbol joins the grid.
Because the retrigger needs only two scatters for five spins, rounds can stretch well past the starting ten. That matters more here than in many slots, since the value of the feature comes almost entirely from multipliers landing on winning tumbles.
A quick illustration of how the count builds: you trigger with three scatters and receive 10 spins. On spin four two scatters land, adding 5. On spin eleven three scatters land, adding 10 more. Instead of 10 spins you now play 25, and every one of those extra spins is another chance for a multiplier to land on a winning chain.
Multiplier symbols explained with an example
The multiplier symbol appears only in free spins. Each one takes a random value of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x or 1,000x. It stays on the screen until the tumbling sequence ends. Then the values of every multiplier on screen are added together, and the total win of that sequence is multiplied by the sum. Our multiplier guide compares this with other systems.
Worked example at a 1.00 bet:
- A free spin lands five of the fifth ranked symbol: 0.50.
- The tumble brings seven of the fourth ranked symbol: 1.20.
- During the sequence a 5x and a 10x multiplier land and stay put.
- The chain stops. Raw wins total 1.70, multipliers add up to 15x, and the sequence pays 25.50.
The flip side is just as important. If a multiplier lands on a spin that produces no win at all, it pays nothing. On a fifteen position grid, a multiplier also occupies a spot a paying symbol could have used, so a screen full of multipliers and no wins is a real, if frustrating, outcome.
Ante Bet and bonus buy
The bet menu offers two extras where the operator allows them.
| Option | Cost at 1.00 base bet | RTP |
|---|---|---|
| Normal play | 1.00 per spin | 96.52% |
| Ante Bet | 3.00 per spin | 96.54% |
| Buy free spins | 100.00 once | 96.56% |
The Ante Bet raises the stake to three times the base bet, far more than the classic 25% add on. The bet menu describes what it changes in the game you open, so read that panel before switching it on. The win cap still works out to 5,000x of the base bet, so tripling your spend does not raise the ceiling.
The bonus buy costs 100x and starts the free spins at once. With an RTP of 96.56%, it returns slightly more on average than normal play, but one purchase is a single high variance event. Many rounds will return less than the price; a few will pay many times more.
RTP, volatility and max win
Two RTP figures circulate. Pragmatic's game page shows 96.50%, while the demo server for this build reports 96.52% for normal play, 96.54% with the Ante Bet and 96.56% for the buy. The rules screen of the game you load always shows the figure that applies. Our RTP guide explains why builds differ between casinos.
Volatility is high: wins come less often on average, but larger hits can arrive in a short time. The maximum win is 5,000x the bet. If a free spins round reaches it, the round ends immediately and remaining spins are forfeited. The server estimates the chance of reaching the cap in normal play at 1 in 2,252,252 spins.
Who Sweet Burst suits
If you enjoy the multiplier rounds of Sugar Rush or Sweet Bonanza but want rounds that resolve faster on a smaller screen, Sweet Burst is a good fit. It is less suited to players who want steady base game returns, since the bottom half of the paytable rarely covers the stake and no multipliers appear outside the bonus.
The 5,000x cap is lower than many recent Pragmatic releases, so the upside is real but bounded. That makes the game more about frequent mid sized bonus results than chasing a single life changing hit.
How to test it in the free demo
The demo above runs the full game with play money. A practical routine:
- Play 200 base spins at one fixed stake and note how often a chain reaches the 9 plus band of any symbol.
- Buy five or six bonus rounds with play money and write down each result as a multiple of the 100x price.
- Count how many multipliers land on spins that do not win. It shows how much of the round is decided by timing.
- Open the rules screen and check the RTP lines, the min and max bet and the max win wording for that build.
For real money play, choose a stake small enough for several hundred spins. High volatility means long runs without a bonus are normal, not a sign that one is due.

Frequently asked questions
What is the RTP of Sweet Burst?
The demo server lists 96.52% for normal play, 96.54% with the Ante Bet and 96.56% for the bonus buy. Pragmatic's game page shows 96.50%. Casinos can run different builds, so the rules screen of the game you open shows the value that applies.
How many symbols do you need for a win in Sweet Burst?
Five or more matching symbols anywhere on the 3x5 grid. Wins are grouped into three bands: 5 to 6, 7 to 8 and 9 to 15 copies. The top symbol pays 8x, 25x and 50x the bet across those bands.
How do you trigger free spins in Sweet Burst?
Land three or more scatters anywhere for 10 free spins. During the round, two scatters add 5 more spins and three or more add 10 more. Multiplier symbols appear only in this feature.
How do the multipliers work?
In free spins, multiplier symbols take a random value from 2x to 1,000x and stay on screen until the tumbling sequence ends. All values are added together and the total win of the sequence is multiplied by that sum. A multiplier on a losing spin pays nothing.
What is the max win in Sweet Burst?
The maximum win is 5,000x your bet. When a free spins round reaches it, the round ends at once and remaining spins are lost. The server puts the odds of hitting it in normal play at about 1 in 2.25 million spins.
Can you buy the bonus in Sweet Burst?
Yes, where permitted. The bonus buy costs 100x the bet and starts 10 free spins immediately, with an RTP of 96.56%. There is also an Ante Bet that raises the stake to three times the base bet.
