Bottom line

Wolf Gold is a calm, readable slot with a clearly priced top prize, which is rare in a lobby full of multiplier chaos. Expect small line wins most of the time and save your patience for the respin. If you need a bonus buy or rising multipliers, look elsewhere.

What we like
  • Fixed jackpots at 30x, 100x and 1,000x the stake, so CA$1 makes the Mega worth CA$1,000
  • Giant 3x3 symbol in free spins with retriggers that never cap
  • The Money Respin can start in the base game or inside free spins
  • Pragmatic publishes a 96.01% RTP for the game
What to keep in mind
  • Five of the best symbol pays only 20x the total bet
  • No feature purchase, so you wait for every bonus
  • Volatility and overall max win are not published by the studio

Why Wolf Gold still fills Canadian lobbies

Pragmatic Play released Wolf Gold in 2017 with an American Prairies setting. Two follow-ups came later (PowerJackpot in 2022, Ultimate in 2024), yet the 2017 original remains a fixture in Canadian lobbies. Its layout takes a minute to learn: 5x3 reels, 25 fixed paylines and only three special symbols, namely the Wild, the Scatter and the Money symbol.

The appeal is that the biggest prize is printed in advance. Three jackpots sit above the reels as multiples of your stake, and you can work out exactly what they mean in Canadian dollars before you press spin. There are no hidden layers, no ante option and no meter that fills over hundreds of spins.

A quick word on the legal side. Gambling in Canada is run by the provinces, and Ontario and Alberta operate their own regulated online markets; this edition of PaylinePilot is not aimed at players in those two provinces. The minimum age is 19 in most of the country and 18 in Alberta, Quebec and Manitoba.

Spin mechanics in plain terms

  1. Choose a total stake. It is divided across all 25 lines, which cannot be switched off.
  2. The reels land. Line wins count from the leftmost reel to the right on neighbouring reels, and each line pays only its best combination before every line total is added up.
  3. The Wild replaces regular symbols only; it cannot stand in for the Scatter or for Money symbols.
  4. The Scatter can only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5. Three of them return 1x your stake and open the free spins round.
  5. Once line wins are settled, six or more Money symbols on screen launch the Money Respin.

Each spin is one result. There are no cascades refilling the grid and no win chains, which keeps the pace brisk and the outcome easy to check.

Paytable converted to multiples of your stake

Pragmatic's server data gives payouts in coins per line. We converted them into multiples of the total bet so the figures work at any stake. Symbol names are not part of that data, so the table uses rank labels.

RankFiveFourThreeFive at CA$2
Top premium20x10x1xCA$40
Second premium16x6x0.8xCA$32
Third premium12x4x0.6xCA$24
Fourth premium8x2x0.4xCA$16
Fifth symbol2x0.8x0.4xCA$4
Four lowest2x0.8x0.2xCA$4
Scatter, 3 on reels 1, 3 and 51x stake and 5 free spins

The ceiling for a single line is modest. Even five of the top symbol returns 20 times the stake, so at CA$2 one perfect line is worth CA$40. Several lines can still land together: at CA$1, a spin with two three-of-a-kind hits on the top symbol and one on the fourth premium pays 1 + 1 + 0.4, or CA$2.40. The serious money lives in the two features below.

The Money Respin, piece by piece

The Money symbol can show up on any reel, and every copy is stamped with a prize: a cash amount or one of the jackpot names. The cash amounts cover 1x up to 8x; 10x, 14x and 16x; 18x, 20x and 24x; 30x; and 100x as the top value. The Mini and Major jackpots can also be printed straight on a Money symbol. This is a pure collect design: values are added, never multiplied by each other.

When six or more Money symbols arrive in one spin, the feature takes over:

  • Every regular symbol disappears and only the triggering Money symbols stay put. The reels are replaced by special reels that hold nothing but Money symbols and blank spaces.
  • You start with 3 respins. Any new Money symbol locks in place, and a respin that adds even one of them puts the counter back at full.
  • The feature finishes when the counter hits zero or when all 15 positions are covered.
  • All visible values are then totalled and paid. Cover all 15 spots and the Mega jackpot is added to that total.

The three jackpots are fixed: Mini 30x, Major 100x and Mega 1,000x your total bet. In Canadian dollars that means CA$15, CA$50 and CA$500 at a CA$0.50 stake, or CA$60, CA$200 and CA$2,000 at CA$2.

Respin example at a CA$1 stake

Picture a base spin with seven Money symbols worth 1x, 3x, 2x, 6x, 1x, 4x and 2x, a starting value of 19x. Respin one is blank and the counter drops to 2. Respin two adds a 14x Money symbol and resets the counter to 3. Respin three brings a Major label, which resets the counter again. Three empty respins follow and the round closes with nine Money symbols on the grid.

The payout is 19 + 14 + 100 = 133x, which is CA$133 at a CA$1 stake. Notice how much the Major did: one Money symbol was worth more than the other eight combined.

Now the full board. Suppose the round runs to all 15 positions and the Money symbols average 4x, a total of 60x. Add the 1,000x Mega and the result is 1,060x, or CA$1,060. Whatever values fill the grid, the final empty cells are worth far more than any value that could land in them, because they decide whether the Mega is paid at all.

Free spins with a 3x3 giant symbol

The bonus opens with three Scatters across reels 1, 3 and 5, which return 1x the stake and hand you 5 free spins. In that round the middle reels (2, 3 and 4) are joined into one block that spins as a single giant symbol, and the round uses its own set of reels.

That block covers nine positions, so it touches every one of the 25 lines in the middle of the grid. If the giant symbol is a premium and reel 1 shows the same symbol, you already have three of a kind on several lines. If reel 5 matches too, those lines become five of a kind. At CA$1, a top premium giant symbol with matches on both outer reels can pay a stack of 20x lines in a single spin.

Three Scatters during the round add 3 more spins, and there is no cap on retriggers. The Money Respin can also start inside free spins, so one feature can roll straight into the other.

Budget planning in Canadian dollars

Most base game returns arrive as fractions of the stake. Long gaps between premium lines are normal, and the features need a count before they show up: three Scatters on fixed reels for free spins, six Money symbols for the respin. Plan your session around that rhythm.

  • Give yourself a few hundred spins. A CA$80 budget at CA$0.40 per spin covers 200 spins before any return, which usually shows the features a couple of times but promises nothing.
  • Price the jackpots at your stake before playing. At CA$0.20 the Mini is CA$6, the Major CA$20 and the Mega CA$200.
  • Do not chase the full board. After the first six Money symbols you need nine more to land during respins, and most rounds stop well short.
  • Fix a loss limit and a time limit in advance, and keep the stake flat. A higher bet after a cold stretch does not change the next spin.

What Wolf Gold lacks next to newer releases

Compared with recent Pragmatic games, Wolf Gold is restrained. You will not find a bonus buy here, nor an ante option, nor any multiplier climbing during a feature. Every payout comes from line hits, the respin total or a fixed jackpot. The upside is clarity: at any stake you know the Mega is exactly 1,000 times the bet, and during the respin you can count the empty cells left.

Pragmatic gives no official volatility rating and no top win figure for this game, so we leave both blank instead of guessing. The RTP on the official game page is 96.01%; the demo server reports 96.00, which looks like a rounding or build difference, so read the exact number in the rules at your casino.

If you want a collect bonus with more escalation, Money Train 2 builds on collector symbols. For another Pragmatic title where cash symbols meet free spins, try Big Bass Bonanza.

Checks before you play for real

The free demo loads from Pragmatic's own server, so the rules match the paid version. Before you switch to Canadian dollars:

  • Read the RTP in the info screen; that is the build your casino actually uses.
  • Note the minimum and maximum stake, which vary by casino and currency.
  • Count how many demo spins pass before you see six Money symbols. That tells you how long the respin wait can feel.
  • Remember that the jackpots shrink with your stake. A lower bet means smaller Mini, Major and Mega prizes.

Questions from Canadian players

What RTP does Wolf Gold have for players in Canada?

Pragmatic Play publishes 96.01% on its official game page, while the demo server shows 96.00, a rounding-level gap. Casinos can run different builds, so open the info screen at your site and read the exact percentage before you stake Canadian dollars.

How much is the Wolf Gold Mega jackpot in CA$?

The Mega is always 1,000x your total stake. At CA$0.20 it is CA$200, at CA$1 it is CA$1,000 and at CA$2 it is CA$2,000. It is paid when the Money Respin ends with every one of the 15 positions filled.

How do I trigger the Money Respin in Wolf Gold?

You need at least six Money symbols on screen after one spin. Those symbols hold their places, three respins begin, and each respin that brings a fresh Money symbol restores the count to three. The feature can start in the base game or during free spins.

How many free spins does Wolf Gold give?

The round starts with 5 spins after three Scatters land on the first, third and fifth reels, which also pay 1x the stake. The centre reels act as one giant symbol, and each new trio of Scatters is worth 3 extra spins, without any cap.

Can I pay to skip straight to a Wolf Gold bonus?

No. There is no purchase option of any kind. Free spins need three Scatters and the Money Respin needs six Money symbols, both landed naturally on the reels.

Which values can appear on the Money symbols?

Possible cash amounts are 1x up to 8x of the stake; 10x, 14x and 16x; 18x, 20x and 24x; 30x; and 100x. A Money symbol can also show the Mini (30x) or Major (100x) jackpot instead of a cash value.

Can players in Ontario or Alberta use this guide?

This Canadian edition is not aimed at Ontario or Alberta, which run their own regulated online markets. Elsewhere in Canada the minimum age is 19, or 18 in Quebec and Manitoba. Always follow your provincial rules.
