Before you play for pesos: in the Philippines, PAGCOR is the regulator for real-money online gaming, and only adults aged 21 and up may play, on platforms that hold its licence. The online gaming framework is currently under review, so look up a site's licence first. The demo here is free and runs on play credits.
The flock moves downtown
Betsoft put Birds in the City live on 8 October 2026, a sequel to its earlier Birds slot. This time the cartoon birds have landed in a busy cityscape. You will meet one bird with plenty of street attitude and a mad scientist bird whose crackling electrical gadget drives the bonus round.
The bigger change is under the hood. The new game uses six reels and five rows, thirty cells, and pays for matching symbols anywhere on the screen, with cascading reels after every win. If you have played Sweet Bonanza or Gates of Olympus, the basic rhythm will feel familiar. Betsoft then layers on mystery symbols, multipliers up to 500x, Super Scatters and a growing Total Multiplier in free spins.
Betsoft's published figures: a 95.87% return, very high volatility and a 28.97% hit rate. In plain terms, about 29 of every 100 spins pay something, and the other 71 or so come up empty.
What happens on each spin
- You choose a stake. Bet limits depend on the casino and are shown in the game's bet panel in pesos.
- Thirty birds and symbols drop in across six reels and five rows.
- The game counts matches. Wins come from how many copies of a symbol are on screen, wherever they sit. Our guide to pay systems compares pay anywhere with lines and ways. The minimum count and the exact values are listed in the in-game paytable, since Betsoft has not published them.
- A cascade follows. Paying symbols burst, the remaining ones fall, and new ones fill the gaps from above.
- It repeats for as long as each refill creates a new win.
- Multipliers settle the spin. When the cascades stop, all multipliers on screen are summed, and that sum multiplies what the spin won.
The tumble guide explains cascades step by step. Keep the hit rate in mind: with roughly seven dead spins in every ten, the base game will often nibble at your balance while you wait for something bigger.
Mystery symbols in the base game
During regular spins and their cascades, mystery symbols can drop onto the reels. When they open, every mystery tile on the grid turns into the same symbol. On a pay anywhere grid that is a powerful effect, because they all join one count at the same moment.
Picture a spin where one bird appears a few times, just short of a paying group, and three mystery tiles sit elsewhere on the grid. If they reveal as that bird, all three are added to its count together and the near miss becomes a win, or a small win moves up a pay band. If they reveal as a different symbol, they may add nothing. Betsoft lists this feature for the base game; it is not mentioned for free spins.
Multipliers outside the bonus
Plenty of pay anywhere slots keep their multipliers for free spins only. Birds in the City does not. Multiplier symbols of up to 500x can land in ordinary spins and during their cascades, as well as in the bonus. The multiplier guide sets this approach next to the other common systems.
The maths is additive. All multiplier values visible on screen are summed, and the total is applied once the cascades are finished.
A peso example on a ₱20 bet, using made-up symbol values since the real ones are only in the paytable: the first drop pays ₱16, a cascade adds ₱32, and the sequence shows a 5x plus a 20x multiplier. Raw wins come to ₱48, the multipliers add up to 25x, and the spin pays ₱1,200. Had the same two multipliers arrived on a losing spin, they would have paid nothing at all.
Free spins and the Total Multiplier
Any mix of four or more scatters awards 15 free spins. Once you are in, any three or more scatters extend the round by 5 spins.
This is where the scientist's electrical box comes alive. Multipliers that land on winning spins feed a Total Multiplier, which keeps its value until the round is over. Betsoft's game page says the full Total Multiplier is applied to a winning spin whenever a new multiplier appears on it.
A worked peso example on a ₱20 bet, again with illustrative win amounts:
- Free spin 2 wins ₱30 and a 10x multiplier lands, taking the Total Multiplier to 10x, so the spin pays ₱300.
- Free spin 6 wins ₱40 with a 5x on screen. The total climbs to 15x and that spin pays ₱600.
- Free spin 11 wins ₱24 and a 25x drops in. Now the Total Multiplier sits at 40x, so this spin returns ₱960.
One detail to check: the release notes describe the Total Multiplier as boosting each winning cascade during the bonus, whereas the game page links it to spins where a fresh multiplier shows up. The rules inside the game decide which reading applies to your build. Under either wording, a multiplier that arrives early in the round is worth the most, because it keeps working on every later spin it applies to.
Super Scatters and paying scatters
Some scatters are Super Scatters. They count toward the four needed for free spins, and if at least one is part of the trigger, you also collect an instant prize on top of the round. The more Super Scatters in the trigger, the larger that prize. Betsoft has not published the prize amounts, so the paytable is the place to see them.
The release also confirms that ordinary scatters pay by themselves as well as opening the bonus. Their values are likewise shown only inside the game.
Bet Booster and Buy Bonus
Two optional tools change how often, or how directly, you reach free spins.
- Bet Booster. With it switched on, your odds of landing the bonus during normal spins are doubled. You pay more per spin for that, much like an ante bet. The bet panel shows the raised cost.
- Buy Bonus. Two packages are available. One is 15 standard free spins. The other is 15 Super Free Spins, where no multiplier is worth less than 10x. The price of each appears on the buy screen and rises with your stake.
Super Free Spins cut out the small multipliers, so every one that lands makes a large jump in the Total Multiplier. That version costs more than the standard package, and like any bonus buy it is one large, high variance bet. Some rounds will return a fraction of the price.
RTP, volatility and top prize
At 95.87%, the published return is a little under the 96% that many players use as a yardstick. Over ₱10,000 of total wagers, the long-run expectation is about ₱9,587 back instead of ₱9,600. That gap is small, but it is there. Our RTP guide shows how to confirm which build your casino has loaded.
Betsoft rates the volatility very high, which our spec card files under high. Its release names a maximum win factor of 45,000x the max bet. Since the exact cap and the way it is calculated are set in the game rules, read them before you rely on that number.
Who should play it
Birds in the City is aimed at players who are fine with big swings. With fewer than three winning spins in ten, the base game feels thin until multipliers line up with cascades or the fourth scatter finally lands.
Size your stake from the number of spins you want, not from how lucky you feel. Take a ₱2,000 budget and a target of 400 spins: that points to ₱5 per spin. Turn on the Bet Booster and each spin costs more, so lower the base stake if you still want the session to last the same number of spins.
If calmer sessions suit you better, a medium volatility pay anywhere game will treat your balance more gently. If the idea of a Total Multiplier growing across 15 or more free spins is what draws you in, this is the game that delivers it.
A demo routine before real pesos
- Spin 200 times at a single stake and compare your share of winning spins with the 28.97% Betsoft quotes.
- Note how many base game multipliers land on cascades that pay versus spins that do not.
- Run one session with the Bet Booster on and count bonuses per 100 spins against a session without it.
- Check in the rules how the Total Multiplier is worded, plus the buy prices, the peso bet limits and the max win.
At this volatility a bonus can fail to show for several hundred spins in a row. Pick a stake your budget can carry through a dry spell like that.
Where Birds in the City can be played for real pesos
Questions Filipino players ask
How much does Birds in the City return to players?
Betsoft publishes 95.87%, slightly under the 96% many newer slots offer. Casinos may load other versions, so open the game rules to see the figure for the build you play before betting pesos.
How do I trigger free spins?
You need four or more scatters, normal or Super, for 15 free spins. Inside the bonus, any three or more scatters give 5 extra spins. When Super Scatters are part of the trigger, an instant prize is paid as well, sized by how many landed.
What does the Total Multiplier do?
In free spins, multipliers that land on winning spins build up a Total Multiplier lasting the whole round. According to Betsoft's game page, the full total is applied whenever a new multiplier appears on a winning spin.
Can multipliers land in the base game?
Yes. Multiplier symbols worth up to 500x can appear during normal spins and cascades. Their values are summed and the sum multiplies the spin's win once cascading stops. On a losing spin they pay nothing.
Is there a bonus buy?
Where the casino allows it, two packages are on sale: 15 regular free spins, or 15 Super Free Spins where each multiplier is at least 10x. Prices are on the buy screen. The Bet Booster instead doubles your natural trigger chance.
What is the maximum win?
Betsoft's launch announcement gives 45,000x the max bet as the top win factor. Precise cap details and the way it is calculated sit in the rules of the version you load, so check there before relying on it.
Is real-money play of Birds in the City allowed in the Philippines?
Real-money online gaming is supervised by PAGCOR, and you must be 21 or older and use a platform holding its licence. Because the online gaming framework is under review, verify the licence first. The demo costs nothing.
