What Gates of Heaven is
Gates of Heaven runs on Pragmatic Play's own demo server under its own name and game code, yet Pragmatic has not published a game page or press release for it on its site. So we went to the source: the game's configuration and rules as served by Pragmatic. We compared them line by line with Gates of Olympus. The grid, the reel strips, the paytable, the multiplier values, the free spins rules, the Ante Bet and the buy are identical. The only material difference is the return to player.
In short, this is Gates of Olympus with a listed RTP of 98.00% instead of 96.50%. Everything below describes how it plays, with the numbers taken from the game data.

An extra 1.5 points of RTP sounds small, but it cuts the theoretical cost of play by about 43%: from 3.50 to 2.00 lost per 100.00 wagered over the very long run. Short sessions will still be dominated by volatility, which the rules rate as high.
What 98.00% means in practice
RTP is a long run average across millions of spins, not a promise for your session. Still, it is the cleanest way to compare two builds of the same game. Picture 500 spins at a 1.00 stake, which is 500.00 wagered. At 96.50% the theoretical return is 482.50; at 98.00% it is 490.00. The expected gap is 7.50, while the real results of two such sessions can easily differ by hundreds because of the multipliers.
So the higher RTP will not make a cold session warm. What it does is shift the average in your favor every time you play, and that adds up over months. It also matters for the bonus buy: at 100x per purchase, the theoretical cost of each buy drops from 3.50 to 2.00 at a 1.00 stake.
One practical warning. Because the two games look and play alike, it is easy to open the wrong one. The name on the loading screen and the RTP line in the rules are the only reliable ways to tell them apart.
How a spin works
- Stake. A spin costs 20 coins, or 25 with Ante Bet.
- Drop. Thirty symbols fill six columns of five.
- Count. With scatter pays, 8 or more copies of one symbol anywhere on the grid win.
- Tumble. Winners vanish, the rest fall and new symbols drop in. The tumble repeats while new wins form.
- Multiply. Multiplier symbols that land during the chain stay until it ends. Their values are added together and applied to the total win of the sequence.

The scatter pays on any position: 3x for four, 5x for five and 100x for six or more, on top of the bonus trigger.
Multipliers and free spins
Multiplier symbols take one of fifteen values: x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x8, x10, x12, x15, x20, x25, x50, x100, x250 or x500. In the base game they are added at the end of a winning tumble chain and then forgotten. Our multipliers guide explains the additive type in detail.
Four or more scatters award 15 free spins, and three or more during the round add 5 more. In the bonus, every multiplier that lands on a winning spin joins a total multiplier for the round, and that total is applied whenever a new multiplier hits and produces a win.
Worked example at a 1.00 bet: on spin 4 a chain pays 2.00 with a x10, so the total becomes x10 and the chain pays 20.00. On spin 9 a chain pays 4.00 with a x5; the total climbs to x15 and the chain pays 60.00. On spin 14 a chain pays 1.50 with a x50; the total reaches x65 and the chain pays 97.50. Raw wins of 7.50 become 177.50.
Ante Bet and bonus buy
The Ante Bet raises the stake by 25%, from 1.00 to 1.25 at a 1.00 base bet, and doubles the chance to trigger free spins by adding more scatters to the reels. While it is on, the buy is disabled.
Without Ante Bet you can buy the free spins for 100x your bet, where the operator's jurisdiction permits. The game lists 98.00% for normal play, Ante Bet and the buy alike. The cap is 5,000x the base bet; with Ante Bet active the rules express it as 4,000x of the raised stake, the same cash amount.
How to test it in the free demo
- Open the rules screen first and confirm the RTP line reads 98.00%. That number is the only reason to pick this version over the original.
- Play 200 spins at a fixed stake and note how many tumble chains carry a multiplier.
- Buy the bonus a few times in demo mode to see how far results swing around the 100x price.
- Check the bet limits and max win wording, which can vary by operator.
With high volatility and a 5,000x cap, most sessions end without a big hit, and a better RTP does not change that in the short run. Pick a stake that lets you play a few hundred spins.
