Bottom line

Think of this edition as the original Sweet Bonanza wearing a Christmas sweater. Paytable, scatter prizes, bomb range and the 21,100x ceiling are all unchanged, so you can play it without learning anything new. Choose it for the winter theme and its 96.48% default return, not for fresh features.

Plus points
  • Paytable and 21,100x cap identical to the 2019 original
  • Medium volatility label in the rules, rare for this family
  • Free spin bombs from 2x to 100x stack into one total
  • Double chance adds only 25% to the spin cost
Watch out for
  • No new mechanic, only new artwork
  • Bombs never land in the base game
  • Turning on double chance removes the bonus buy

A note for Filipino readers: real money online gaming here falls under PAGCOR, and you need to be at least 21 and stick to platforms that hold a PAGCOR licence. Lawmakers are still reviewing the online gaming rules, so verify a site's licence before you put in a single peso. The demo on this page runs on play credits only.

A winter coat on a familiar engine

This frosty edition arrived from Pragmatic Play in November 2019, the same calendar year as the first candy game. Fruit and sweets now sit under frost and snow caps, and the backdrop has turned wintry, but the machinery underneath did not change. Six reels, five rows, a 20-coin bet basis and payouts for any symbol that shows up 8 times or more anywhere on the screen.

We compared the server paytable against Sweet Bonanza one symbol at a time, and every number lines up. The one real difference sits in the rules text: this edition is filed as medium volatility, which the provider explains as steady payouts that can still swing from small to very large.

What happens on each spin

  1. Set your bet. The demo server allows base bets from 0.20 to 240 units; your platform decides the peso limits you actually see.
  2. Thirty symbols drop onto the grid.
  3. The game counts every symbol type across the whole screen. Any type with 8 or more copies pays, and several types can pay on the same drop.
  4. Paying symbols vanish, the survivors fall, fresh ones fill the gaps. This tumble loops for as long as new wins appear.
  5. Once nothing more connects, the full sequence is credited in one go.

Because this is a pay anywhere layout, the matching symbols never have to touch. In the base game, a long tumble chain that piles up more and more of a single symbol is what turns a small hit into a decent one.

Paytable with peso values

Nine symbols pay. The rules show them only as pictures, so we rank them from top to bottom. Values are multiples of your total bet; the last column shows 12 or more copies on a ₱20 spin.

Symbol rank / hits8 or 910 or 1112+12+ at ₱20
Top symbol10x25x50x₱1,000
High 22.5x10x25x₱500
High 32x5x15x₱300
High 41.5x2x12x₱240
Low 11x1.5x10x₱200
Low 20.8x1.2x8x₱160
Low 30.5x1x5x₱100
Low 40.4x0.9x4x₱80
Low 50.25x0.75x2x₱40

Look at the jump into the last tier. Ten copies of Low 2 on a ₱20 spin pay ₱24; twelve copies pay ₱160. At the other end, eight of the weakest symbol return just ₱5, a quarter of what you staked. Most base game hits land on the small side, and the 12+ tier is where tumbles earn their keep.

Getting into free spins

Scatters can appear on any of the six reels and pay wherever they land. On a ₱20 bet:

  • Four scatters: 3x, so ₱60, plus 10 free spins.
  • Five scatters: 5x, so ₱100, plus 10 free spins.
  • Six scatters: 100x, so ₱2,000, plus 10 free spins.

Inside the round, 3 or more scatters hand you 5 extra free spins, and that can happen again and again. The rules also mention that the feature switches to special reels.

Bombs, worked through in pesos

Bombs exist only in free spins. Each one shows a random value from a fixed list: small ones (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x), middle ones (8x, 10x, 12x, 15x) and big ones (20x, 25x, 50x, 100x). A bomb pays nothing alone. It sits on the grid until the chain of tumbles is over, then all bomb values are summed and that sum multiplies the chain's total win. Our multiplier guide compares this with other systems.

Say you play ₱20. A free spin lands 8 High 3 symbols for ₱40. They clear, and the refill delivers 10 Low 2 symbols for ₱24. The chain is worth ₱64. During that chain, bombs of 5x, 10x and 2x appeared, adding up to 17x. Your payout: ₱64 × 17 = ₱1,088.

Flip it around. If those same bombs drop during a spin with no group of 8 at all, you get nothing, because zero times any number is still zero. And one 100x bomb on a chain holding 12 or more High 2 symbols (₱500) would pay ₱50,000 at the same bet. Big bonuses need a strong base win and a fat bomb total in the same chain.

Double chance or the 100x buy

You pick between two bet modes. The standard 20x bet multiplier keeps the buy open; the 25x setting gives double chance and hides the buy.

OptionCost on a ₱20 base betWhat you get
Standard spin₱20Normal trigger odds, buy available
Double chance₱25Extra scatters on the reels, twice the trigger chance, no buy
Bonus buy₱2,00010 free spins at once

Double chance is an ante bet by another name: you pay 25% more on every spin to double the odds of starting the feature. The bonus buy takes 100x up front, and a bought round can easily pay back less than that, so see it as one large wager with a wide range of results.

Return, risk and the ceiling

The provider page lists 96.48% as the RTP. Operators are free to pick another certified version, and the in-game rules display the precise figure for the version you have open, including separate values for the ante mode and the buy. Our RTP guide explains why small differences add up over long sessions.

The top prize is 21,100x your bet, which works out to ₱422,000 on a ₱20 spin. Reach it and the round stops on the spot, with any free spins left over forfeited.

Xmas next to the rest of the family

  • Against the original: same grid, paytable, scatter prizes, bomb list, buy price and cap. Only the winter look and the 96.48% headline figure set it apart.
  • Sweet Bonanza 1000 lifts bombs as high as 1000x and brings in a 500x super buy.
  • Sweet Rush Bonanza drops bombs entirely in favour of multiplier spots that double up to x128.

Want the classic formula with a holiday feel? This is it. Want bigger multipliers? Look at the newer editions instead.

Before you play for pesos

Run 100 base spins in the demo at a single bet and count how many return at least your stake. Note how long the first bonus takes. In every round, write down the bomb totals and how many times bombs arrive with no win to boost. Next, play 100 more spins with double chance active and see whether the bonus shows up more often. When you move to a real platform, open the rules screen first and check the RTP line, the peso bet limits and whether the buy is allowed. Medium volatility does not put the bonus on a timetable, so pick a stake that covers several triggers rather than one. If one ₱2,000 purchase would use up over 20% of the money you brought, lower the bet before buying. Set a loss limit and walk away when you hit it, whatever the last round paid.

Questions Filipino players ask

Does Sweet Bonanza Xmas play differently from the original?

No, only the look changes. Symbol values, scatter prizes (3x, 5x, 100x), the bomb range, the buy price and the top prize are copied from the 2019 original. What stands out is the medium volatility tag in the rules, plus a 96.48% RTP on the provider page.

How do wins form in Sweet Bonanza Xmas?

Collect at least 8 copies of one symbol on the 6x5 grid and you are paid. Where they sit does not matter. Paying symbols disappear, new ones fall in, and the chain keeps paying while fresh groups of 8 or more show up.

How do I trigger the free spins?

Land four or more scatters for 10 free spins. On a ₱20 bet, four pay ₱60, five pay ₱100 and six pay ₱2,000. Inside the bonus, landing 3 or more scatters gives 5 extra spins.

What do the bombs do?

They appear only in free spins and carry values from 2x to 100x. When the tumble chain ends, the values are added up and the total multiplies the chain win. If the chain paid nothing, the bombs pay nothing either.

How much does the bonus buy cost in pesos?

It costs 100x your total bet for 10 free spins, so ₱2,000 at ₱20. You can only buy in the standard bet mode; the option disappears while double chance is switched on.

What is the top prize?

The cap is 21,100x the bet, or ₱422,000 on a ₱20 spin. A round that reaches it closes immediately and any remaining free spins are lost.

Can I play Sweet Bonanza Xmas for real money in the Philippines?

Real money online gaming is regulated by PAGCOR. You must be 21 or over and use a PAGCOR-licensed platform. Since the online gaming rules are under review, check the licence before registering. The free demo needs no deposit.
